Hi everyone,

Ducia decided to shock me yet again with the AMPS 286.

The new insulin has been shipped from Canada and had already reached the US but not due for home delivery until Monday. I hope they'll manage it faster - we have hot weather here.:nailbiting:

Happy Friday everyone.

I slept over my +3 alarm - large dinner with wine and cake, and here were are - the proof that my Lantus vile hasn't gone bad after a new one was ordered.
Scary stuff with that +7.
Ducia is all right: asymptomatic, acts her usual self, extremely happy with the MC and gravy, gone to bed.
I am telling you - that cat wants me to have a heart attack.
Back to 0.75U @AM.

Whaaaaaaat????? After the pink preshot??? I just took my first look at the board today and thought, oh, that must be a typo, no way was Ducia down at 30/33, it must have been 303.

Glad she is doing OK in terms of symptoms-- hope your heart also settles down soon! Yikes!

That little stinker with those 30's!! Guess when ever you want her to come down, just order some more Lantus pens, LOL. :p

I just received some insulin from Alan in the Supply closet. ( I wanted a pen in my refrigerator just in case as I had given my last pen to a friend) He does priority mail and I had it in 2 days. He does not ship it with ice and when I got it I was worried about it not being on ice. I wanted reassurance that it was okay, and he is his response to me:

Great to hear that you got it in. About Lantus and temperature.....Lantus was designed to withstand being in the heat so a pen could be carried with you. It was designed to be the only insulin that would allow you to do this. Sanofi the manufacturer of Lantus says if it is stored at 103 degrees F after 30 days it looses no activity. So it is really tough, and a short transit in the mail doesnt hurt it at all. All that said it should be stored in the fridge long term.

Lantus is also very sensitive to temperatures below 32F, most people are not aware of this issue with Lantus. It is way easier to hurt Lantus with low temperatures than it is with heat. So bottom line is the best way to ship it is to ship it fast, and get it back into the fridge. The air gap between the shipping box, and the actual product box the pens are in give it extra insulation from heat in the surroundings. All in all it is very safe, even wise to ship it without ice packs. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks.

The above made me feel way better. And after he wrote it I remember reading on Mark's Marine Pharm site that they will watch for extreme cold weather and ship accordingly so the shipping could take longer because of that.

Morning, Nan!
down at 30/33, it must have been 303.
I know, right?!
My knees are wobbly.Last time at 33 she was in convulsions/seizures and seeing that number is terrifying. She is 144 an hour later - must be the MC effect. I am going to try to sleep for an hour or so and grab Ducia with me. She just ate her usual supper 0%. Looks as happy as nothing ever happened.
Have a wonderful weekend.

He does not ship it with ice and when I got it I was worried about it not being on ice.
Bobbie, thank you for posting it. I knew about dangers of ice+insulin but we have above 90 degrees and the girl @Mark's pharmacy assured me that the ice pack (extra $10!) won't hurt it. :nailbiting:Canadians shipped it right away but here in SO Cal we do not rush things:rolleyes:, there is always tomorrow - the maniana, and I know the package will be sitting at some horrid warehouse in the heat over the weekend. I was worried about direct ice contact. But shipping without it seemed even worse, psychologically, we had 120F last weekend:eek:. I should have gone to Alan, really. I read good comments on his product.

Hang in there, Tanya! Ducia is a very tricky girl but you do a fantastic job keeping her safe. She was trying to get back at you last night for not being invited to the wine and cake party! ;)
