Coping my question from yesterday:
I eliminated the Organix from the feeding. He got straight Fowl Ball and only Fowl Ball today.

Per the cat food database it is 4% carb which is about what I have been trying to keep the "mixers" I was adding to it. I strongly believe that the numbers are due to the food - but why?? I have used Soulistic, Wellness, Organix, FF as mixers previously - why would he drop like this on ONLY the Fowl Ball? Do I just keep him on this food (without mixers)? It scares me to only have one "go-to" food.

I was using mixers because when I first started he was used to the FF classic (pate) and didn't really care for the "shreds" of the fowl ball, so I had been mixing the FB with pate, but he ate the FB just fine today w/o the addition of pate.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Nice start for Gizmo. I hope he surfs safely today. If the Fowl Ball is lower carbs than any of the other food, maybe it is too low for him. Some cats need a little bit of carbs to surf safely.

Not that it solves the current dilemmna (in fact... makes it a little stranger) - but the new food charge has Fowl Bowl at 6%.

Maybe his body likes the more "natural" feel FB has?

The food thing is certainly enough to pull your hair out! That is why I went raw. Have you considered raw or making your own? You'll have so much more control. I realize that it is time consuming........
I might try making my own cooked - vet is concerned about raw with his other health issues (and really, she has a point) - one episode of bad food and it could kill him with the pancreatitis and ckd. I am going to try some of the Tiki - it has more calories than the Fowl Ball. I am just amazed. I don't know if this food (alone) is easier on his tummy and he is feeling better on it or what is going on - but I am loving the numbers!!

Tiki is a bit more $$ but if you divide it out by calories it really isn't (it is actually less).

As it stands right now - he isn't getting enough calories to maintain his weight but - he isn't going to starve either :p
