I wouldn't. You don't have a lot of data yet to see how he reacts to shooting that low. Only 1 other time have you shot in the 100's

And you don't have any tests after +2 to see what the nadir was. He may have gotten low.

Sorry I wasn't around when you asked for help. My answer would have been: if you can monitor and have plenty of supplies, go ahead and shoot.
My big concern here is that you have been skipping shots and changing the dose almost daily, and by whole units. That means that the depot is very confused now. Lantus works best with consistency. You need to find a dose you can consistently shoot, and when you change doses, do it in .25 unit increments. I'm thinking the 3 units is too high. Since you shot 2 units this morning, how about shooting 2 units tomorrow morning and sticking with it for at least six cycles, unless Fatty drops below 50? I'm assuming here that you are following TR?

The main reason i dropped to 2 units is because his diet was changed last week and he was consistently jumping from high numbers to very low numbers so i couldnt dose him. Figured the 3 units was too much with the low carb diet so changed to 2 u to see if i could plateau him out.... The first weeks were on the advice of my vet who i should also add wanted me to dose 3 u on 5.1. Then i was on another group who do TR but they were much too agressive to deal with unfortunately. I am happier with the Slow going version and have printed the instruction sheet out, figured 2 u was as good a figure as any to start anew.

Tricia gave you some good advice above to stick with the 2 units for 6 cycles and gather data so you will know how to proceed. As she said, we change the dose by .25 units so you don't go over the best dose and hold it for at least 3 days/6 cycles unless he goes under 50 on a human meter.
Always get a pre test. Otherwise you are shooting blindly and it's just not safe. You are testing enough that you could follow TR; all it requires is pre shot test, a mid cycle test and one before you go to bed. And no dry food. TR has a higher rate of remission but, that said, SLGS has seen kitties go into remission also.

I fully plan to test dose for at least 3 days i realise stability is key. I found the TR confusing on the other site one minute they said dose for at least 3 days then next adjust for the nadir on the curve so i never knew what i was doing. I dont understand how you can keep a dose and adjust at the same time!! And i got sick of being yelled at...

Keep asking questions here and there are so many peeps all over the world here to help you. If you don't understand something, keep asking, someone will come along and explain it in a way that makes sense to you. It is a big learning curve and can be so very confusing at first. We have all been there. What helped me was to read other peeps threads and looking at their SS. I learned a lot that way along with reading and rereading the stickies

Thank you thank you! I care very much for my furbabies also, I have an 18 yr old moggie too! Diabetes is the sort of problem that just when you seem to have it figured it throws a huge curve ball at you! I find the TR regulation really confusing, so will probably stick with the SLGS for the time being.....until I at least feel more confident in what I'm doing, at least for Fattys sake!

I agree with this, I still do it fairly regularly, even though Marvin is in a different situation than most, I still trying to better understand some of the basics that I probably should understand by now, but taking a bit of time. Which is ok, as sometime we need to see it for ourselves on our own pets. This forum is great for that as so many members have guided me through, explained certain situation (took them explaining sometime a few times, especially when I was too emotional to absorb the information).

Don't feel bad about being confused, Kerri. We all were at first. It's all very overwhelming - all that info to try to absorb (and there is a LOT), plus you're worried about your furbaby, and you're trying to live your life! That's what we're here for - to help you figure it out. We won't yell at you, and if you don't take our suggestions, that's fine. We just share with you what we've learned, and you decide what to do. I must have read and re-read the stickies a dozen times in the beginning, and I still didn't understand everything. I still make mistakes, and I still go back and re-read stuff. Just remember, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask!
