From my experience, I would give the same dose. How's his appetite? Would he eat enough to steer his numbers if needed?

I don't know yet lol. Haven't fed and he's been singing the song of his people for the past 45 minutes so I'm hoping it's good!. He should eat if I need to steer. Going to get +20m test now.

I was so scared the first time I shot lantus on a blue. Still get freaked out to shoot on a blue because Chuck is on a high dose.
They say lantus is good at keeping lower numbers somewhat flat and low. SLGS calls for shooting anything over 90. Eta: I should look to see what they call for with newer (I did NOT mean better) lantus users!
You could lower since you've never shot this low with lantus. It's your call. I know I've been questioned why I reduced without earning it but I'm following TR.

Ok I'll feed him and give full dose :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:
There's no hard and fast rule, but if you don't have data on how your cat responds to insulin, here are some general guidelines.
  • Below 150 mg/dl (8.3 mmol/L), don't give insulin.
  • Between 150 and 200 (8.3-11.1 mmol/L), you have three options: a.) give nothing; b.) give a token dose (10-25% of the usual dose); c.) feed as usual, test in a couple of hours, and make a decision based on that value.

He use to be a bit bouncy so he could decide to bounce from the streak of blues. It's Chuck's favorite thing to do. He's doing it tonight!

Sorry I wasn't on earlier. I am glad you shot foll dose. Paws crossed for a flat blue night.

I am a bit curious why you just fattened his dose instead of increasing by 0.25 as SLGS suggests. I would save fattening for when you just wanted to tweak a bit. The previous dose had only seen yellow nadirs which would mean a 0.25u inc ease.

I wasn't sure how much I was going to be around past 5 days and didn't want to hold him at 1.5U. He does really well with Fat and Skinny adjustments so figured I would try it before going to 1.75U until I could monitor him better :).

Nice job shooting your first blue! He had a great day both cycles.

Sorry I wasn't around when Steph tagged me, I was busy burning up my pizzas on the grill

ETA: I agree with Wendy about the full .25 increases at this stage in the game but, this was one of those times when you really did Know thy Cat!
