Jimmy is coming down from a bounce I guess...been trying to get him back on track since Saturday's AM NS and then the later PM shot. I will test again at 5:30 - but I'm not feeling so comfortable about shooting him with 6.5 units with such a low number. Thoughts? @Wendy&Neko @saltycat @Gill & George

Most caregivers with the amount of data you have will shoot anything over 50 on TR, providing they have plenty of supplies and can monitor. He recovered very quickly from the last skipped shot, but you do need to find a dose that you can shoot consistently, without having to skip. Remember, if you decide to do a BCS, the depot will still affect the cycle, so you will still need to monitor.

ETA: You might want to add something like "Shoot or Skip?" to your subject line to get eyes on you.

Maybe I'll do a reduction tonight and do 6 U. I still have about 15-20 min until he's due for his shot.

Also what is a BCS?

Yup. That's what I'm leaning towards - I hate to skip all together because he's doing so well. Plus - he just started transitioning to raw yesterday (getting 1/2 tsp raw) incorporated in to his LC food. I need to take that in to account as well. :nailbiting:

I am glad you got most of his dose in him. Tonight will be a good opportunity for data gathering. Jimmy often nadirs late, in which case you do have to get used to shooting low.

I didn't find much difference in Neko's numbers whether she got raw or wet, as long as the % carb was similar.

Yea - I wimped out. Let's see how he does with the 6U overnight. Also, my lancet device broke this afternoon (prob from overuse lol) -so am free handing it now. I don't mind it - and my husband seems to like it better. Jimmy seems to be cool with it too - so prob won't get another one. When would I want to start steering him up should he get new low numbers? Anything below 50? Also - with the transition to raw - am wondering if it would be better to give him his usual food with a wee bit of Karo vs introducing yet another type of food (i.e. the HC FF).

I stayed away from HC Fancy Feast. Neko's system didn't agree with the gravy. There. are some better quality, potato for carb HC products from Weruva, which is what I used. Below 40 I added karo/syrup. You will have o find what works for Jimmy. I started with the FF, moved to other 18% carb food, then found 16% carb was enough. Karo didn't keep her propped up as long. OTOH! Some cats need over 20% carbs HC. Just take good notes on the SS on amounts, carb % and timing of HC and you will learn what works for you.

Ok thanks. I drank the look aid with the FF but I will try the weruva. A friend gave me a can to try for Jimmy-but it's fish and zero carb. Heh.
