I just tried to test Cosmo. I did everything right, but all the meter is doing is showing the blinking blood symbol. I thought maybe there wasn't enough blood so I did it again and there was quite a bit of blood. Both times - blinking blood symbol and no reading.

I'm not sure what to do... I've taken it out and tried it again, used a new strip... Nothing.

I'm using the ReliOn Micro - only been doing this a few days so it's still new.

Cosmo is hungry, so I'm not going to test tonight - and just give him dinner. But I don't know what the problem is!

Just barely touch the tip of the strip to the blood drop.....it should "suck up" the sample into the machine and then wait 6-8 seconds for the results

You might try it on yourself a few times until you get it.....and if it continues not to work, you can call Relion and they should send you a replacement (just don't tell them it's for a cat)

That's what I did both times... well, if it doesn't work in the morning (Or maybe I'll try once more before bed - won't be before dinner), I'll figure something out. Blech. Poor boy. It was my first time getting an easy stick and great amount of blood the first time around, too. Poo.

My first Micro wasn't working properly though I did get readings. They sent a replacement. Like Chris said don't mention it's for a cat.

It worked this morning! AND he was at 115! I had a suspicion that Fancy Feast gave him better numbers than Friskies, so I bought some to try... he dropped from the 2 and 300s to 115! I'm going to continue my test. I'm willing to buy FF forever if this keeps him healthier. No insulin this morning... let's see what those numbers are tonight!

Always keep a spare battery handy. Your meter could have been sitting in a warehouse somewhere for a year before you got it. Don't laugh at the idea of a counterfeit battery, I had an AC adapter melt into a blob on a power bar a few years ago.
