Here's a reason to adopt a 2nd sugar kitty, then you will know for sure if the insulin is ok...
I would try another cartridge from that shipment.![]()
Oh, I will. Definitely. I just need to have one on hand that I trust (elimination of factors). I still have a little over 1/4 of the vile.I'd try another cartridge before I ordered more. Sometimes you can just get a bad cartridge.
Oh, Noooooo. One is quite enough - another might kill me. lol. Here's a reason to adopt a 2nd sugar kitty, then you will know for sure if the insulin is ok...
And a new food (supposedly 1% carb) thrown in just for fun.yay for green!!
For the frustration of not knowing if it's due to the increase, old vial or both.
yeah, too many variables to know for sure, what is the new food?
And less on the Paté and Shreds (154). Our choices just keep shrinking.207 phos is close enough to being under 200
IDK, I know bones impact it. I just don't want to go through it and not know for sure. He was on raw and was doing well on it right before his 2nd panc flare that hospitalized him. I switched him back to FF Turkey & Giblets to try and get him eating again and then vet switched him to Hills k/d and then one month of steroids and then FD.I would assume the raw chicken and turkey are low, while the lamb, beef, venison and rabbit are high.
Please let me know. I can't get Rad cat here (I don't think - I am going to look again). Too expensive to have it shipped. I can get Instinct and Chewy and Stella - but neither is available at a convenient location.Rad Cat is supposed to have the least bones I think. I use the lamb, chicken & turkey since Bronx didn't really like the beef or venison. I'm gonna give them a call about the phos since you now have me thinking..
It's on their websiteI'm gonna give them a call about the phos since you now have me thinking..
Awesome, thanks for that. So their .8g/100g would equal 80mg?It's on their website

And I can get it locally now. I may try it.
I am assuming 2.2 equals 220 for the chicken? Please let me know. I can't get Rad cat here (I don't think - I am going to look again). Too expensive to have it shipped. I can get Instinct and Chewy and Stella - but neither is available at a convenient location.
I am trying to find one I saw that was "made-to-order" specifically for diseases. I thought maybe it was Darwin - but it isn't.
ETA - it is Darwin.

How does the phosphorus look on this? This is the non-rx Darwin food.

I have no idea. I don't understand all of these figures and calculations. I wish we had a nutritionist on here that could explain it to me in plain English.Awesome, thanks for that. So their .8g/100g would equal 80mg?
Do you have to grind the meat or buy it pre-ground? By "filtered water" do you mean bottled drinking water? How do you know daily amount? Same as canned? He gets about 3.3-3.5oz/cycle of canned food.If you look at Tanya's website, and her page on canned food data, the raw food #'s breakdown is at the bottom. There are several below 1% phosphorus, including Radcat. It really doesn't take a lot of work to make your own. Order EZComplete on line. Go to butcher, pick up meat. Buy filtered water. Make sure you have a kitchen scale and containers to freeze a daily portion in. Then mix meat, water, premix (using scale for quantities). Fill freezer containers with daily amount - put in freezer.
How do you know which ones use eggshell vs. bone?In general, stay away from raw products with ground bones and go for ones that use eggshell calcium or other products for calcium.

Did you have an issue with Alan and packing the insulin? I just ordered a 5 pack from him. I want one to keep in the fridge "just in case" and my friend is getting the other 4 pens. I was worried about the heat. Alan is in Texas so your shipment should get there quickly.but am a little gun shy about having them shipped (again
Didn't order them yet. He was out of the 5/$100. I haven't given up on the one's in the fridge yet. I have 4 more brand new and it could have been a panc flare causing the higher numbers. I also still have almost 1/4 of a vile that is good - that is what I switched back to. Did you see what he sent me in the pm?Did you have an issue with Alan and packing the insulin? "The manufacturer of lantus says if can be left in 100 degree plus heat for up to 30 days, so it is no normal insulin. The few days it takes to ship it via priority mail wont hurt it. That said ice packs can damage it because to make it heat tolerant it turned out to be cold sensitive, below 32 degrees can damage it."
uummmm. Ok. Not sure I buy that. Not sure if you saw this post about possibly too much testing causing anemia:
http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/can-too-much-testing-lead-to-anemia.179918/
I am thrilled with the bw. Wish I could get some potassium into him as I know it would make him feel better but he will not eat food with it added so I am at a loss. At least it hasn't dropped any more. His HCT/Hematocrit is still in good range. That's one to look at for anemia. Gizmo's is 36.3 and Neko's IM vetty wasn't too worried when Neko's was in the upper 20's. Good to see his other kidney values came down some.![]()
Was it ran at an IDEXX lab? I think that the spec may be specific to IDEXX but not positive.@Wendy&Neko Do you know what the difference is between an Spec fPL test & a Precision pSL test?
I have no idea, just assumed new vet would run same Spec fPL test as last vet. Don't know how to compare the 2 tests? Was it ran at an IDEXX lab? I think that the spec may be specific to IDEXX but not positive.
