Hi everyone.
Just got the Freestyle lite glucose strips for our Alphatrak2 meter and did the comparison on the same blood sample, leaving the code of the AT meter at 38 (there is a code on the FS vial - 16, but I think it's for humans). AT read 356 and the FS 444. I read somewhere that the higher BG can give more discrepancy in readings, but this example just put me off using the FS. Any thoughts?

Do 2 or 3 more comparisons in case this was just one weird set of numbers.

Correct, ignore it and keep the 38 code from the AT2 strips :). If you get another bottle of AT2 strips, then you'll use the new cat code.
That is kind of odd for the two numbers to be off by that much o_O. Hopefully, the additional tests will clear things up!

Thanks for the advice. I'll try again in a few days. Today she's going to the vet, so she'll be jumpy for a few days, but after that I'll try again and let you know. She's a bit impatient with me when the testing takes too long, so I need to have her relaxed to do the comparison.

Ok, just managed to get enough blood for two tests: 386 AT and 390 FS. I'll do few more in next few days and post the results.

I have been using that combo for about a year. Very reliable. I get the FreeStyle strips off of ebay. If you buy 200 or more, you can usually get them for $0.40 each. They probably cost 1 penny each to make.

Thank you for the replies. I've managed another reading comparison, with the results 383AT and 408FS, so that's more encouraging. The first one must have been a fluke. I'll do more comparisons on Saturday, when she has her curve done and see how often the odd numbers come up. If I get all relatively close, I'll be happy with those strips for daily use.

Thanks Jeff, I'll check it out on ebay. As long as the shipping is not a killer, I can give it a try :).

I think it's been mentioned but keep some AT2 strips on hand so you can do other comparisons with next bottle of FSL strips :)
