It looks like the former march upward was due to acro stuff and pancreatitis. Once I got her stabilized, she began a determined march:D:cat::D back down to her apparently preferred number - 7.5U. Of course she may go down to 7U which is , I think, the lowest she has ever been.:woot::woot:

I credit cerenea for lowering her inflammation. I think I might need to keep her on a maintenance dose of 6mg every other day. Maybe try to get it down to every 3rd day. Since the effect is cumulative, every 3rd day might be ok/

???Any ideas on cerena are welcome.???

What is it with cats diving low last night? Congrats on the reduction. Might still have been some influence of the 8.5 unit dose.

I gave Cerenia daily. Maybe a smaller dose more frequently? Dunno. Might be a good question for your vet.

I was appalled. In my jammies, yawning, sleepy, and then POW-adrenaline rush.. I've been more vigilant lately, because she is going lower and faster, but this was totally unexpected.

Yes, it might be just from the depot. Time will tell. But I seem to remember that the 7s were very comfortable for her, for a very long time.

My trusted, open-minded, brilliant vet has left the practice and returned to her hometown in NC. I am trashed. There's a new/replacement vet now, straight out of vet school -AMA in TX, an excellent school. However, she's a bit insecure just now, so it's difficult for me to ascertain whether or not we can work together.

Oh no! I know how much you relied on your vet. That's awful. I hope the new one proves to be open-minded as well.

TiTi, slow your roll a bit, my girl!

Yeah Titi!!!!. How about 4mg cerenia everyday so you stay on top of it? I even tried 2 mg day but it was to hard to split it anymore. I know what you mean about new vet. The practice I use has a new graduate doctor I tried for regular civvie visit. She didn't seem comfortable handling my cat. Then he has another slot available and I liked the last 2 docs that where there but they left and went to other location in same practice. There are 3 offices. I like the owner but only in my location 2 days a week and does surgery on a third day.

I have 12mg cerenea, and it breaks into half because it's scored. I wouldn't be able to get it into thirds. Maybe 4ths.
Hard to find a good match, you and the vet.

You could try the 3mg and see how it works. It's safe to give daily. Smokey started with 15mg. Was able to get it down to 4 mg. He couldn't do with it, and I had plenty of room to increase.

Thanks for the input. But I am not so great at cutting up pill. I can't measure this tiny pill into 3mg without losing a lot of it - due to powder that results during the cut, and it would not be an accurate doses - it would be either over or under the 3mg. Considering the cost of cerenea, I would weep over losing 1 micro mg of it. Lol.

If there is a compound pharmacy near you they maybe able to make the cerenea in a different format in the dosage you would like. I had to do that with Marvin for the special medication he is on, as it was only available in pill format and he would have needed 1/8. The compound Pharmacy was able to make it in liquid version for me. The cost was about the same. I had them price it out first, as my regular pharmacy had told me it would be double to triple the cost, and it was not. A few other folks on here mentioned in their experience it was the same and sometime cheaper. It maybe worth checking out. I simply did a search on the internet for a compound pharmacy in my area and contacted them directly.
