I'm thinking 1.5 units is going to be his new Vetsulin dose. I know I don't have a lot of testing done... but, I don't like the +4 drop that he's getting with 2 units. But, I also don't like the +12 numbers either.

I know it'll never be perfect... just typing what's in my head.

Mr. Sparky decided to chill out for an hour on our enclosed patio. It's WARM out there... yay for warm ears... got blood on the second attempt.

Definitely.... Way too low for comfort. May have gone lower than that at 5 and 6 if you hadn't caught it.

Agreed, you may want to go back to the 1.5U at the most right now. Try your best to get those AMPS and PMPS tests. I know it's a struggle to get in rhythm when you're starting, I had difficulties in the beginning :bighug:. With Vetsulin, your bigger number to look at is the nadir (peak insulin action, lowest BG reading) don't let the AMPS and PMPS higher numbers determine the dose. As his nadir stays in safer numbers (higher dark green / blues) those PS numbers should start coming down too :). Could you add what meter you are using in your Signature, when you have a moment :)?

Husband couldn't get Sparky's AMPS this morning before breakfast. Gave 1.5 units of insulin after a full breakfast. Just tested (+4) and he's at 323??? And, he peed on the carpet again.

That high number is probably a reaction to the green yesterday. We call it "bouncing" and it's an attempt by the kitty's body to overcompensate for the threat of a low BG by dumping stored glucose into the bloodstream.

Keep working on the BG testing. It's an essential tool in managing FD. :)

That kinda makes sense... we'll stay the course... I'll test again PMPS. This is so frustrating and confusing! Ugh.... :)
We ALL know how you feel! This is not a "find the dose, done and dusted" disease. It's takes time and a ton of patience. Most of us feel a lot calmer and more optimistic once we accept that. :)

+7 is at 274.... I feel like every BG is a puzzle! LOL

:)
That yellow could be a lot worse! It's really important to get those pre shot tests AM and PM (no food for at least 2 hours before). As you build up more data on your SS the BGs will be less and less of a mystery. :)
