? 6/27 Jimmy Dose ? Time to increase? Or do I give it another cycle?

I would wait before increasing. He had that green two days ago and today is just the 4th cycle after that green, so he could still be bouncing. Let's see where his nadirs land after the bounce is over, which can take 6 cycles. It also looks like you gave a skinny dose yesterday, and that can impact the depot a few cycles later.

Has anyone mentioned to you that we usually suggest getting kitty tested for high dose conditions when the dose gets over 6 units? The tests we suggest are the IGF-1 test (for acromegaly) and IAA or insulin auto antibodies. My Neko had both conditions. One in four diabetic cats has acromegaly, though not all of them are higher doses. Your vet does the blood draw and sends it to Michigan State University, which is the only place in North America that does the tests.

Will do - thank you. I'm looking forward to a "normal" routine this week for him (and me.)

We have an appt with the vet next weekend. Will take it from there...again, thank you!
 
Good timing on the vet appointment. Be aware that not all vet's are familiar with the recent research on how common acromegaly is in cats. They used to be taught it was very rare and IAA even more so. Mine didn't want to do the tests until we got to 10 units, which we never did. I had to ask her to humour me. She was much more surprised than me on the results. Later that summer she identified another acro in her practice.

Is there anything different you did once diagnosed with acro?
 
The most important thing is to get to the dose that works for Jimmy. Knowing the reason for the need for higher doses makes it easier to get there and may change some dosing strategies. If a cat has acromegaly, there are treatments that some do, though most don't. Acromegaly is caused by a benign tumour on the pituitary that sends out excess growth hormone which in turn causes the diabetes. There are some other side effects of the growth hormone that can happen and should be looked out for.
 
Sorry I'm late to the party, I agree on the wait, lovely flat blue PM cycle, it will be interesting to see what he does tomorrow morning.
