vet increased dosage from 2 units to 3 units 2 x a day on 6/14 .. doing a curve test today using both AT meter and my Prime meter .. at +9 with the AT meter he tested at 101 and with Prime meter he tested at 66. next test is supposed to be at +12 (pmps) he is not acting strange at all, eating and drinking normally. if he tests same or lower i already know not to give him his PM shot, just wondering if i need to worry more than usual since his numbers appear to still be going down so long after his AM shot

I can't offer any suggestions. Still new. Just my experience yesterday. Charlie droped to 47 at +3. +6 is the low point. I just checked every 30 minutes and fed carb treats. Check out spreadsheet if I like.

I would test again at +10, just to be sure he's not still dropping.

The "take action" number with an AlphaTrak is 68. The "take action" number with the Prime is 50. You can't really steer with food at this point or your PM reading will be affected by it. Definitely test again at +10, if he's still dropping you may need to intervene.

+10 -1/2 (4pm) reading AT meter is 84 .. Prime reading is 54 .. +12 pmps would be at 530pm

That's awfully low for so late in the cycle. If it was my cat, I would check again in a half-hour and steer with some food if he was still dropping. At this point it won't really matter if you steer Cinnamon with some food, I doubt very much he will come up enough to get his shot tonight so you don't have to worry about food affecting his PMPS.

ok ill give him 1/2 can now and check him in 30 minutes

I think 3 units may be too much for Cinnamon, causing him to bounce around in high numbers before dropping back down. It seems like all his lows are either at the end or the beginning of a cycle. He's dropped almost 400 points today, that's about 4/5 of his AMPS!

yes i know ....i will be talking to the vet on monday see if i can drop him down to 2.5 units he has been on the YA Zero since tuesday ( he was on it before he started on the lantus and numbers were going down just with the YA access and wet 2 x daily but vet said get him off and give wet only so i listened) .. for a while before i put him back on YA, if he was only getting wet food twice a day as she wanted he would gorge himself on wet regardless of how much or little you gave him so i tried the EVO .. no good too high in carbs now that they changed the formula and i tried Dr Elseys Clean Protein with only 4 % carbs but even that was too high so back to the YA i went even tho the vet wants him on all wet food only .. not possible with 6 other cats in a second floor apartment with only 1 window large enough for an AC unit ( had to keep him confined to my bedroom so he didnt get to other cats food but if i only fed them all wet only 2 x daily landlady and downstairs neighbor complained about the cats fighting all day plus 2 refused to eat wet at all and were chewing on all kinds of things they shouldnt) .. with the YA he isnt gorging himself on the wet, he isnt starving by wet meal time and he only eats a few pieces of the YA at a time, i also started giving him filtered water as our water is high in iron and the filter system they have installed on the entire system doesnt work that well as the water still has a yellowish/orange tint to it so my water filter thingy connects to my kitchen faucet

No shot tonight for Cinnamon! I'm sure he won't object, lol. And I would not give him 3 units in the AM, I would give 2.5 at most, maybe even 2.25, if he was my cat. :)

no he wont mind not getting a shot lol ..... a lower dose in the am depends on what his numbers are like .. if he is 400 or higher i'll stay with the 3 units if he is under that ill go with 2.5 units

+12 AT reading at 530pm is 132 and the Prime reading is 88 gave him the other 1/2 can of wet and no shot :) will get another test in between 530pm and 11pm

I also agree that 3 units is too much... if it were me... I'd go with no more than 2 1/4 units... better safe than sorry... also... he had a AMPS on 6/23 of 103... and that was 12 hours after giving 3 units (if I'm reading the chart correctly).
.

well his numbers are high again .. at +4 ( 930pm) reading with the AT meter was 435 and with the Prime it was 362

That's pretty normal, especially considering you didn't shoot tonight

He's "bouncing" from the lower numbers he got into today

Tomorrow's another day, but I agree that I think it might be a good idea to drop his dose back down to maybe 2.5 and see how he does. We need to find a dose that you can safely give every 12 hours
