Does anyone know the percentage carbs in "Real Meat" Beek Jerky Treats for Cats, please? I emailed the company ("Real Meat") a few days ago but have not got a response -- just emailed them again. Thank you.

Please let us know what the company says if they respond. I do wonder about the dried chicory root and salt :bookworm:. THESE are on the OK list and seem to have only 1 ingredient :)

Thank you, Yong. Will try the ones you mention. Mine like freeze dried, but they will *sell their little souls" for the real meat, so I keep it to sometimes tempt Angel when he desperately needs to need before his insulin.

They finally just responded. Here's what they said:

"Ingredients:

Beef, Dried Chicory Root, Natural Vegetable Glycerin, Sea Salt, Mixed Tocopherols

Calories

3 & 4 oz Treats Approximately 2-3 per piece

Nutritional Information

Carbohydrates about 7%

Crude Protein Not less than 25%

Crude Fat Not less than 20%

Crude Fiber Not more than 2%

Moisture Not more than 20%"

Lily also eats Feline Natural chicken & lamb. Its another freeze dried food. I have used this food as a meal just adding water to it, and as a treat just feeding it dry. I have also used this food as a topper on meals for my other kitties when they are fussy.

Thanks again, K and L! (which incidentally is my husband's fave wine store, lol :)!). Gosh, these are expensive, tho! Probably cos it's a large bag. Will try.

You can also use Pure Bites and Orijen treats, neither raises BG.
Thank you, Squalliesmom! Ours like Pure Bites sometimes (they're very temperamental). But go NUTS for that Real Meat thingie. I found the pieces very hard and were worried about their teeth, so ground them a bit -- I now add a bit of water and to date Angel has never refused it (touch wood, phew!).

I guess the size is because its sold as a food, not a treat. I just happen to use it as a food, treat, & topper! LOL. And both brands are very soft, so you can easily crush or crumble with your fingers if need be.

Squallie and one of my civvies go absolutely insane for the Orijen treats. They are also just meat, and come in several varieties.
