What the hell?
Ate his breakfast (4oz Fancy Feast Roasted, 6% carb) ... got his dose 1.5u Lantus

Due to some recent clinical signs, pDVM and I agreed to do a full curve today. Things are NOT trending well. This is the worse I've seen! I'm raking my brain trying to figure out what, if anything I'm doing wrong.

Yes, I know I don't share my spreadsheet. I'm looking for hypothesis.... there is no food down anywhere! And his BG treat is a tuna flake with scritches! Using a ReliOn Prime meter... and have gotten several e-13 errors today (strip errors) but the control test was within normal perameters.

Just looking for support....

You've got my support for what it's worth. My curve day was also not good. Maybe he senses your frustration?
I got errors also this week on my Alpha Meter. Husband says I did it wrong period but I know I did it correctly. I'm no expert and cannot help in that, but I understand your frustration fully. :bighug:

Thanks! I'm actually pretty chill about it all... going through the motions and soothing words. I don't feel stressed or frustrated.... and Orry is lying so well...

I want to quit today but I know that the pDVM needs these results. I'm afraid of the reading that goes too high! We need to adjust Orry's evening dose sooner rather than later so need this data. I just think it was this bad! Luckily no signs of flat footedness.... just excessive thrist.

Have you tested for ketones recently? If not i would try and get a test. With DKA history and high numbers it could be a concern.

I don't know how to do that. Pretty sure that will be the recommendation from the pDVM and she will teach me.

His full curve was good Memorial Day which prompted the daily spotchecks and to wait for this curve. The numbers on daily havent been this high.

Can I blame the weather? It is hot and humid today!

I have a few guesses on the numbers. Are you running any tests at night? Many, well actually most, cats go lower at night. It's possible he's going lower at night and them bouncing during the day. A before bed test or spot check will help you determine if that is happening. Or it could be that you might have chosen a bounce day to run a curve. Bummer - they aren't good days to run a curve. And one more theory, any chance he got a fur shot last night? You should be able to smell insulin on him at the injection site if that happened. And one last idea - his dose is too low. Weather doesn't make big changes in numbers.

AMPS 503, +2 372, +4 399, +6 319, +8 384, +10 313.... those are the readings....

His bedtime spotchecks are what promoted this curve. He was in the upper 200s at bedtime. I don't smell anything on him or remember any wetness after his shot last night or this morning. I did wonder if I am rushing his dosing. The vial of Lantus is still clear, no floaties, prescibed on April 23, 2017. He has been very lazy today, alert and responsive, but lazy.

Getting ready for dinner time... so will have PMPS, +2, +4, and +6 ... I hope that goes better.

I feel like today is a waste of time, energy, and supplies. I also know* a dosing change is coming. It is a flat curve, just too high.

You would definitely smell Lantus if it was a fur shot. I got into the habit of always sniffing after I shot. Notorious for fur shots. :banghead: As long as your vial is in the fridge, it should be good for at least 5-6 months.

You might want to feel the fur as well because believe it or not there is a % of peeps that can not smell insulin at all. One of our Lantus user @Robin&BB could not smell it if she were to do a fur shot.

I usually give him a scratch after shooting and haven't felt any in a while. I took more care tonight.

Orry ate 4.5oz breakfast and 4.5oz for dinner of Fancy Feast Roasted (6% carb)

AMPS 503, +2 372, +4 399, +6 319, +8 384, +10 313

PMPS 352, +2 303, +4 250
And this is typically my bedtime.... but gonna stay up for at least one more reading. He usually hits nadir btw +6 and 8 readings.

I have no idea what this data tells us. He is more alert and active since dinner.

Oof....
