I think it's likely because she hasn't been that low for a few cycles as Bobbie suggested above.

From what I understand if you are heavy handed with the steering what can happen is that you impact the duration, shortening it, so you see numbers rise at the end of the cycle, if it's that as opposed to a bounce, then you'll see the numbers head back down when the next shot onset, whereas with a bounce you'd expect her to stay high and flat for at least a whole cycle.

I had this happen last week, I thought it was a bounce forming, but it was just a carb hangover and the numbers were coming back down a few hours after shot time.

Let's get back down to the beach Phoebe, we know you can do it

Thank you that makes total sense!! We will see shortly. In my gut with her I think it's the food. She is pretty carb sensitive. And she was pacing a little last night until she pooped. I gave her fluids last night. She has now taken to hissing at me no matter where on the right shoulder I put the needlein. Wondering if it is sore and over used.
I don't know if she'll let me give anywhere else. Her insulin shots are on the left shoulder. No flank shots for that sweet Tanzmanian devil. :banghead::nailbiting: any thoughts, trucks. Tips? (Usa dollars only please) :) lol I got sleep

with just the insulin needle?
Funnily when George started to feel better, get into better numbers, he complained at his insulin shots, I'd get the odd hissy fit. Most of the time though he was too busy chowing down:joyful:
 
I hope Phoebe comes back down soon. It's probably a combination of the food and the green. Nice of your hubby to stay up last night.

I give insulin only in the left shoulder as not to disturb the area. Everything else goes in right shoulder. Adequan, b12, and fluids. I use 19g for fluids and adequan, and the b12 I'm not sure but they are smaller needles like 20. I get those from my vet prefilled. I noticed when I gave her the adequan shot last time the next day she had clotted blood and it had seaped down her right shoulder. I cleaned her up, and there had been quit a bit. I am guessing I hit a vessel. :(

Sweet little green last night.:)

I used the Terumo thin wall 20 or 21 gauge needles for fluids. The flow is a little slower with the smaller needles but as long as the bag is high it still goes pretty fast. I noticed a difference in the needle size ease of entry. You could probably use the same size for the Adequan. I asked my vet to prefill syringes in their insulin syringes. They did the math conversion and it came with smaller needles.

I did scruff for fluids and down to the shoulder or below for the insulin. You could experiment with how far down the side she will let you go. One last thing to keep in mind, Phoebe is at a decent size of Lantus and could be feeling some sting. Lantus is acid base. That is why some folks with large dose kitties switch to Levemir., which does not sting.

She hasn't responded to the lantus, just the fluids and adequan. I know the adequan is pretty thick and was hard to push thru, especially with my disabled hand. So went with bigger bore to administer fluids and adequan. I just wonder if she's getting sore. But definitely will do fluids in scruff more, 4 or so hours after insulin. And will experiment with moving shot further down side as long as I keep my hand. :bookworm::nailbiting::blackeye:
