Question about vet stress and BG

Hi, I'm taking Myrtle to the vet tomorrow for a check up. Her BG numbers have been good lately but I know that the stress of the trip to the vet will send her numbers through the roof (she gets really car sick and freaks out totally). I was just wondering then how long it will take her numbers to come back down? ( I wasn't home testing last time we had a vet visit so no experience with this). I couldn't send her out of remission with a vet visit could I ?

Thanks, I haven't tried Rescue Remedy on Myrtle before - might be worth a go. What does ECID mean?

My cat's BG always registered higher at the vets. If I remember right it took a while after I brought him home for the numbers to come down but it all depended on how stressed he was while there. If it was a quick visit with no tests he came down pretty quickly when home but if it was an overnight stay or a couple days at the hospital it took quite a while after being home. Usually by the next day when he was back in his territory and back to his own routine his BG went back to his normal readings. My previous cat would pee and poop in the carrier on the way there and throw up on the way back. What a mess. I always had to take an extra carrier with me with clean towels.

In my case Babu's levels have gone up to 150 more than what he registers at home but he is usually down between two or three hours, since he's been on remission his levels did went up but not so much (about 30 points ) and everything went ok hope is the same with Myrthle

Like you I did tried to avoid the visit (I did asked my vet to do a home visit instead) in fear he would go out of remission and he did the but eventually I had to take him because he needed an ultra sound but it seems he put up with it like a champ

Thanks for your reply - yes Myrtle has been known to poop in her carrier too and she is always drooling as well as meowing pitifully from the moment she is in her carrier. Part of her problem as well is that she won't sit in her carrier, she insists on standing on all 4 legs the whole trip so of course she is unstable and gets car sick!

Have you tried putting on a harness and leash and letting her out of the carrier while in the car ? that may help, one of my cyvies can't tolerate being put on the carrier but is the most calmed cat while on the car if she gets her harness and I tie the leash to the safety belt of the car and just leave her enough leash to move around the seat but not all over the car
