He was blue at +9 on last night's cycle. Was hoping it would hold for his AMPS, but no such luck.

It's another dose dance. I think he has to go back up to 2.75 for a cycle or two to get his numbers back down.

Maybe and if that is necessary then skinny it or fatten the 2.5 ( whichever way you want to look at it. The idea is 2.75 is making him go below your reduction point with SLGS so maybe something in between the two doses will keep him surfing a bit in lower numbers. It's worth a try.

It's so hard to fatten up or skinny up doses. The lines are way too close together.
I bought a pair of magnifying glasses (3.0 ) at the drug store for dosing and I used a magnifying glass ( but, I am older than you so I have old eyes. ) But, it really helped me a lot. Since you are younger, you might not need as high of magnification as me. Take a syringe with you into the drug store to try out different strengths.

It's not too hard for me to see - it's too hard to draw. I have a hard enough time drawing the .25 or .75 doses. (I would never be able to microdose.) I guess he's stuck at 2.5 for the full 7 days then he'll go back up to 2.75.

When you get down to the micro doses, it does take some practice. I could NEVER draws up a perfect dose in one try......it was always overdraw and waste some, waste more than I should have, redraw a bit more.....kind of like the FD dance these kitties are doing with doses.

And yes, you will be able to do the micro doses when you get there.

I can barely get .25 or .75 doses correct. Half the time those are guesses even with an overdraw or two. Forget about dosing in drops. I would almost have to push a drop out from one syringe and draw it into another. That's the only way I'd be able to tell if anything is in the syringe. That's a long way off and it feels like he'll never get there anyway.

For now - I'll just worry and be frustrated over his current dose and numbers.

As long as you are consistent from day to day on the same dose, it doesn't matter if you are exactly at .25 or .75 . Some peeps draw up colored water or tea in a sample syringe once they get the dose to close to the measure and then use it as an example.

I saw the colored water syringes. I'll have to do that for my petsitter later this month and/or next month if Rudy's on an inbetween dose. I'm not going to rely on her being able to draw .25 or .75. She'll be overwhelmed enough taking care of an insulin kid for the first time.

Most peeps when dealing with a pet sitter take the dose to the nearest on line dose for that reason.

That's more than likely what I'll end up doing. We have a rehearsal planned for next week so she can learn how to test and dose. Rudy's an easy patient, but he better not pull his shy act while she's watching him. He can be funny around people that aren't me. She'll have to come armed with a 1/4lb of turkey just in case. :)

What do people think about pre-filling syringes for pet sitters? Some day I would like to be able to travel again too. Not sure Yum will let anyone but me touch her though (if she's not caged). But I was daydreaming about the option of pre-filled syringes. I used to pre-fill my morning syringes, but stopped as my skills advanced.

I read was not recommended and if I am not mistaken the reason given was is that the syringes are covered inside with some synthetic substance like film and that interferes with insulin. :(

I couldn't agree more Jen! I am fattening right now and must say the calipers we bought do help a lot. We got online one for less than $15 if you wish I'll send you the link after DH is home - he bought it. And there is great video by Marje on how to use calipers. Just like Rudy my Ducia would go under the 50 table on 0.75 and back in Pink and Yellow on 0.5. Fattening was the only option to try.
