Good morning friends and Memorial Day greetings.

Rainy and windy here this morning and am surprised that our local parade is still on. Our village parade route is a short almost circular one traversing three streets while sending its way to its conclusion at our veterans memorial. When I was a kid (pre-gentrification and fence walls, much of which gives rise to Robert Frost in his "Mending Walls" about whether walls are the keeping in or the keeping out...) neighbors delighted in us short cuttting with glee and excitement through open back yards to get the most out of following the parade.

Azalea has been doing pretty well since her "faintly positive" fiv dx a month or so ago. She loves her weekly acupuncture and the ride to and from. Interesting that she knows when we'reon our way there and is cheerful, ebullient (in contrast to other treks such as to reg vet or her specialists when she is calm, tolerant but as if resigned to getting it done and home asap).

Her chronic mouth infection has been pretty "quiet" since some changes and additions to her supplements since her fiv dx. She is eating well, wright is better though not yet back to an ideal weight. She is bar and happily has returned to her activities and favorite places throughout the house, including of course on Steve's lap wherever he settles himself in.

Bella had her first acupuncture session last week. Hopes are for immune and calming support re her ongoing fear of carriers and being picked up ...that seems to trigger her fears of abandonment bc of what happened to her before she joined our home. Her recently profusely waxy ears have improved (no sign of infection, polyps or blockage) but oh boy....I bring her to Azalea's dental specialist for an exam next week.

Dancer and Spunky have been happy campers. Spunky's ear goo (ear wax that builds up bc as-yet inoperable polyp blocks drainage) still happens but is less.

A beautiful young red fox has been traversing through our yard lately. So beautiful. And bright back memories of the mom and her fix pups who made under our shed their springtime home a few years ago.
Apparently this year are about 4 or 5 fox families who have set up housekeeping to raise their young in the village. Last week we had a lot of problems with our phone bc of the rain. The repair man commented, after being aloft to fix the line from pole connection: "there are a lot of foxes here." Quite a birds eye view he must have enjoyed.

Sending healing vines for all in need. Wish I had magic wand.
With ❤ :bighug: and heaps of thanks from us all here❤
Sina and Sootie's Tribe

I'm glad your tribe is doing pretty well. It's good to hear Spunky's ear is doing better. How cute that Azalea looks forward to her acupuncture appointments. I hope things are going well for you and DH. Sending prayers. :bighug:

Hi Sina! A wonderful report on all! Sounds like everyone is status quo. It is good to hear from you and your tribe. :bighug:

It is rainy and chilly here today. Glad we had no festivities planned. Wish I could get out of the window polishing. DH did his part and did the outsides on Friday. I'm on............procrastinating. ;)

Hi Sina,
Good report on your tribe. I'm glad that they and you are doing well. When I was a kid we never used the sidewalks, we just cut through everyone's yards, too. No one ever complained.
Neat on your foxes. We see both red and gray foxes in our back woods occasionally.

Our paddle was rained out today. It's cold, windy, nasty. I'm glad I'm not marching in a parade!

Hi Sina!

So nice to see an update on the tribe, and hear that things are going fairly well. I'm not surprised at Azalea's enjoyment of her accupuncture and her knowing where she is going - I've always thought she was an exceptional cat!

Good luck with Bella. Such a shame she is still so fearful, even after receiving the loving care you are giving her. Sending soothing and good dental vines for her upcoming vet visit.

Vines and scritches to the rest of the tribe, and :bighug: to you and DH.

Hi Sina! :bighug::bighug:

Boy you still have a full plate! I love that Azalea is enjoying her acupuncture. My kitty Charles loves it too.

Sending calming vibes to Bella.

That is so neat you can see the fox near you. The ones around here usually run by so fast that I barely get a look.

Thanks for the update!!

Hi Sina, I always love to read your posts and hear how you and the tribe are faring.
I'm glad Azalea is doing well and is enjoying her acupuncture treatments. Such powerful stuff that is. Hope that Bella will benefit from some ongoing sessions as well, poor baby :(. I'm so glad she found a safe loving home with you, her fortunes have turned around for sure.

Your village sounds like a peaceful place. I haven't seen a fox since last summer when I was way high up in the San Bernardino mountains (CA). They are such beautiful, elegant creatures. I always feel lucky when I see one.

Can't wait for your next report. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks Bobbie. And congratulations again on Bubba's anniversary . Wahoo!

Wish I could get in to window polishing !!! Insides no prob though it's much slower going with each year. But outside and maneuvering the storms and screens...ugghhhh! whatever happened to window "wax"....what was it called? It was fun to make window pane pictures with it.

The local fellow who was a gem of a window washer just died...96 years of age. And prided himself that he never fell off a ladder. Til he fell off a ladder a year ago.
Heaps of vines for you all...and Bubba: be judicious in selecting your mouse catches! :bighug:

Hi Ella, Thanks and I always enjoy your posts and hearing from you. I've probably missed out on joining in some of the culinary celebrations but I always appreciate that Sootie continues to be Dessert Surprise Chef. It's a great honor that I'm sure she continues to give her all to each occasion ❤

Yes, foxes are beautiful and woefully misunderstood. There's a wildlife rescue in ny state called fox wood wildlife rescue that specializes in fox and coyote rescue and educating the public. They were very helpful, education-wise when fox families arrived here a few years ago, people were all upset and I was trying to set up an educational event in coordination with fox wood and our local animal control. At the time a friend and I were also trying to find ways to lure one fox away from a summer restaurant bc the manager was threatening to shoot the fox. Fox Wood sent me a supply of coyote pee that we, in stealth of night, sprinkled around the perimeters! To our surprise, there was an article in the local paper the next afternoon about the Governor's visit that day to that restaurant. Must have been a pungent event!

Hi Tricia! Congratulation both on the completion (or near completion?) of the ongoing home renovations ...and...the arrival of your two absolutely gorgeous KC kittens!!! (Kcmo or kcks?) What joy:bighug:! Sending heaps of vines and extra scritches from us all.

I'm amazed and thoroughly happy that Azalea has embraced acupuncture. She never allowed our house call vet near her for it. And we enjoy our trips to and fro. Very special times together.

Bella is a very sensitive and sweet being and it's no surprise that her being abandoned by her previous life long family to a high kill shelter affected her so deeply. Sootie's passing didn't help; they had become very close. So it was good that Dancer stepped in so that they could console and find their ways through the loss of Bo and then Sootie together. They are now like the Bobsey Twins and never far from each other,

Heaps of ❤ :bighug: and vines from us all for you and your family, now bustling with adorable frisky kittens!

Hey, Amanda! You've had a full plate, too! Hoping summer break will bring some r&r!

Yes, acupuncture is amazing. I'd like to find the human treatment version of Azalea's and now Bella's acupuncturist for me!
Cool that your civie Charles grooves on it too. Do you have a photo of Charles to share?
Adding heaps of vines, healing, happy, rekaxing vibes for you and your tribe...and green and blue vibes fir the Empress❤:bighug:

Near completion...sort of. The flooring is in, baseboards and trim will be finished Thursday. Still have the fireplace in the family room and the built-ins in the guest room to complete. Plus, DH decided we needed to get a new water heater and HVAC system, so those are going in later in June. I really just want my house back!

The breeder actually lives in Olathe, Kansas. What joy, indeed. They have enriched our lives so much just in this first week!
:)

Hi, Barbara and thanks, too. Glad Uncle is showing his affinity for wearing green these days. Heaps of vines that :D is the color of the day for a long time.

Oh, the village isn't as peaceful as it once was...when it was a sleepy little place forgotten in the aftermath era of the ravages of the Great Depression and then the 1938 hurricane.

But summer is on its way, though it hardly seems so with the recent chilly rain weather. Heat is back on with Bella and others soaking in the ambient warmth from the radiators!

:bighug: and ❤ and :) vines for you and yours with good health and gentle summer breezes❤.

It'll be a great feeling to settle back in and fully enjoy your home again!
Ah yes, Olathe! I lived in KC during college years. Springtime was beautiful there and summers hotter than I had ever experienced! . You picked a nice time of year to be there!

Oh no, is that why he died?

DH did all the outside windows by power washing and using a squeegee on them. Until this year I did inside and out and finally said, "nope" to hanging on a ladder outside . I played the "too old " card. DH can't play that card yet because he is younger than me. ;)

A fall last summer was what started the decline. but it wasn't from a ladder.

DH plays his variation of the "too old" card (he's older though). :banghead:

My DH is younger, too. That's the way to go - women live longer than men, so we can be together longer! At least, that's the plan.
I am 4 years older than DH. Both my sister's married men that were 10 years older like my mom did. Me, I was trying to be like my paternal grand mom, Ma, whose 2nd hubby was 15 years younger. I don't have a strong enough ego for that .
