2 nights ago we had a bit of a yo, no symptoms just a low that needed honey and kibble. He is 96/98 right now with two checks.

SLGS says if under 90 do not give. It also says if it is a lower than usual preshot then if under 150 dont give. He has had lower PMPS recently and last night he was 103 and the night before 108. On the 108 night we stayed up and helped him along. He is still mad about all the pokes and feeds. Last night he was 103 and I gave 1.0 instead of the 1.5 this morning I went back to 1.5. I am thinking he may be getting close to needing just the 1. But this morning after the 1 he was 195 with honey covered night meds and some kibble. The night before he was 249 AMPS with feeds through the night and finally kibble because I was falling asleep and I was afraid he would dip lower.

We are an hour late on the test/fee/shoot already and he was low. I got sucked into cleaning the fridge. My son said he was stuck so my husband checked on him and he was laying in an unusual spot (weather not feeling well/ i dunno) \. He is also being treated for a UTI.

Advice?
I am thinking of just holding it tonight but I don't want his numbers to go up again in the next cycle or two.

Is there any way you could get some mid-cycle tests tomorrow to see how low he is going? That would tell you if Fergus has earned a dose decrease. The actual numbers are on the SLGS Method which you were mentioning above. (Same sticky but in a different place.)

I am very conservative and scared (okay, chicken) so since the 96/98 is so close to the 90, I probably wouldn't shoot. I don't know if that's the right advice or not, but that's what I would do unless I could monitor during the night. I have shot a 99 before, but not lower so far, and Callie has a pattern of going up. Hope someone else with more experience pops on.

I agree. I chose not to shoot. He is acting weird and hiding. He is perky but spooked. I shot a low 100 the last two days. I shot normal 1.5 and he dropped to low for me at 54 a few hours in then the next night I shot 1.o instead but loaded him with some carbs and he was still lower than I thought he would be in the morning at 195. I am letting him chill and eat if he wants.

I may check in with our vet tomorrow.

looking at ss.....

imho.
I would try to find a dose that can continue consistently.
It seems that 1.25 u would be better for Fergus at the moment. He earned that on 5/25.

Lantus does not like inconsistent dosing.
It accumulates in the body. It's not like the previous dog insulins that goes in and out hours later.
When you change the dose between am and pm.... you can start getting really wonky numbers.

If the reduction doesn't hold after a few cycles, you can always go back up in dose.
You would do what this picture shows .... but add 1 unit.
