Hi @Yong @JanetNJ n @Kris & Teasel n everyone else!
Start a new thread cos d 3rd one was too long.
He went low last nite n took a while to climb back up eventho I resorted to giving him honey. This am shot up a bit at amps but now back to yellow n blue. Is this a good sign that he's not bouncy?
Put him on diapers finally. Meant for newborn but we cut a hole for the tail. He looks funny. Don't thk he likes us much now.
We buried our cat Sultan in a shady spot in the park. We miss him so much but hoping he's having a good time where he is now. Do u think we get to see them when our time is up?

So sorry about the loss of your cat. I absolutely believe you will. And if you pay close enough attention and are open to it?, you may get a sign he's visiting you now. My cat Nikki visited us a few times. Zimmy who died last month visited as well. I felt him jump on the bed and lay down behind me and my son felt him one night at dinner rub against his legs but when he looked to see which cat it was there was no one there.

You may have to post a picture you'd your cat in a diaper. My sister did that to her dog when he became incontinent.

Remember to lower the dose now that he Earned a reduction.

Hi Waheeda! Great job last night with Jebat :bighug: Love your notes :cat: and I think it's good he wasn't too bouncy today. Maybe his body is getting used to more normal numbers so not panicking when hitting them this time. Course it's less scary when they have not had insulin to get them . Like Janet said we might have to see a picture of Jebat in a diaper. As well as being open to a visit from Sultan. My GA boy visited me a few times over a year until Maury and I found our groove, Maury was a bad "teenager" lol.

@JanetNJ Do you think Waheeda and Jebat need a new sliding scale? :)

I'd luv him to visit me. Definitely will open my eyes n heart. First time we lost a cat n it was too sudden. He's fiv+ so we r always very careful over his health. He stole our hearts quietly when we picked him and he left just as quietly. I thk he knows we are busy with jebat. He's such a gentle fella.
Will lower d dose for 200-250 range. But I did not lower for 300-350 range. Will take reading at +6 n see where it stands.

hi Yong,
Was panicking a bit last nite cos his numbers din move up much after feeding him burp. N I don't Hv any high carbo food at home. Furthermore it was alrdy 1am n we were so tired. Kept begging jebat to giv a higher reading so we can sleep. Rubbed a teaspoon of honey before we got the 94 reading at 2am.
I will post his photo with diaper tmr. Need to use d notebook. D bathroom was clean the whole day but we'll remove his diaper at night.
By the way, what's GA? How long have u got Maury? I want so much for sultan to visit me.

That's him in diaper.

He's cute, isn't he? Struggled like crazy n he peed at me the first time. He seems to Hv lost some weight last few days so I'm back to feeding him 2 more meals.
I've had him since he was a month old.
Oh so my Sultan is my GA boy now.

Looks like this scale shld b ok:
130 - 170 - 0.4
170 - 200 - 0.8
200-250 - 2.4
250 - 300 - 2.6
300 - 350 - 3
>350 3.2

D <200 range not really tested yet. I will try d stalling method first b4 deciding on wat to do.

Sultan visited me this am. Heard his distinctive walk in the living room as per his usual morning routine. I thought it was my imagination but the sounds were so clear. Thank you all for sharing your experiences with me. I hope he'll come again soon.

Sounds like a plan.

I'm glad you got a visit..... I think if people are open to noticing it that it is pretty common for them to come back and let you know they are OK.

Two days after my cat Nikki died we heard her scratching the scratching post three times in the middle of the night. We only had one other cat them and he was on the bed with us and he heard it too and sat up and stretched his neck to try to look down the hall.

I guess they know we miss them lots. And they want to comfort us.
Strangely jebat jumped on the sofa at lunch time today n snuggled next to me. I was so shocked cos he hasn't been on the sofa since he was diagnosed. Not easy for him to jump now. He looked at me and meowed and asked for chin rubs. I think he somehow knows I need to be comforted.
How many cats do you have? How many are GA?

I have 6.

I had Nikki, then got Taime. Taime died young.... Just had a heart attack on Thanksgiving day 2000. After he died we got Zimmy. Nikki died of cancer in 2004, and Zimmy was lonely so soon after we got CC (she's my diabetic).

Then we took in Ally who was a stray we were feeding, clearly abandoned with a kitten sized flea collar digging into her waist. A month later we took in Lita who was about 5 months old and running from house to house screaming for food. This gets us to 4.

Five years ago we started feeding an orange stray... She was friendly so we asked everyone we knew if they wanted her. When she got a hurt leg from a bite wound we convinced the in laws to take her, but it wasn't a good fit. Finally we took her. She was quite a challenge to integrate with the others but eventually things settled down bringing our total to 5.

Two years ago a feral named Bubbles had 4 babies in our garage. We found homes for two of them, and took in the other two after one of them almost died of pneumonia. Officially crazy cat ladies we now had 7 until last month when my sweet Zimmy died. So we are at 6 now.

I like to think when you are so close with them, they also come back to see if YOU are ok:cat:. I think my GA boy knew Maury and I had a rough start, like I said he was a bad "teenager" :p.

Yay for Jebat jumping up for some snuggles

Well we are all crazy cat ladies! All my 5 were strays I picked up. Either they were wounded or left without d mummy.
Jebat hasn't pooped for 2 days. Shld I see d vet? Any advice?

Looks like ur Maury is dancing the same tune as jebat. Was happy with the green n blue yesterday n then he gave me a pink! :(

Sometimes they seem to hear the same beat to the current sugar song . Jebat just has a little bouncing, otherwise beautiful cycle yesterday!

Was hoping the beautiful cycle continues a few more days. :banghead:
But eventho he's in d pink or yellow these few days, he's more sociable. Doesn't hide much. In fact he was waiting for me at the door. Wonder why the mood change. Would he be feeling good eventho his diabetes is not regulated yet?

Can only vouch for my situation because I'm not sure if it applies to everyone. Maury is not considered regulated yet but he definitely seems happier too =)

Oh good to know that! Ever since I lost sultan so suddenly, I became more sensitive to their behaviour. Just in case they want to tell me Sth.

@JanetNJ @Yong @Kris & Teasel
Wow! He was at low 100 at pmps till +1. So I din shoot. Right decision I hope? Will he bounce later? Keep paws crossed. This is exciting!
You were right to skip the shot at this AMPS. Yes, he might bounce. I see some big jumps in dose on your SS - eg. from 2.2 u to 3.0 u. It's safer to increase by only 0.2 u at a time. You'll need to reduce a bit for his next dose - maybe 2.8 u max.

Oh I was going by the sliding scale. I reduced the 200-250 range but not the 300-350. I thk Hv to relook at the scale again.
I hope he doesn't bounce to 500. Not good for his organs.

I figured that you were using a sliding scale. That method can work well but the scale needs to be reworked frequently. Also changing dose often in a bouncing cat can lead to even more bouncing and BG instability.

I used a scale as advised by Janet. I'm very confused here. U are of the opinion I shouldn't? If it's not a sliding scale, then wat fixed dose shld it be?

Janet has a lot of experience with sliding scales. I don't. Your best bet is to tag her for help in revising your scale. I apologize if I confused you. It wasn't my intention.

No need to apologise. I know u meant well. I'm learning a lot from u all. I'll check with Janet, no worries.

Hi @JanetNJ
Do I still stick to this:

130 - 170 - 0.4
170 - 200 - 0.8
200-250 - 2.4
250 - 300 - 2.6
300 - 350 - 3
>350 3.2
After today pmps?

Or does it need a reduction?

My best answer is to say wait until morning to see what the AMPS is. He might surprise you. Also, Janet might see this thread before then.

Ok I hope she sees it soon. It's tough when u are on the other side of the world in a different time zone.

Which numbers do you think are too high a dose?

Let's see what it is.

Which numbers do you think are too high a dose?
Hi hi,
Glad u r online.
The present scale seems to be working ok so far. My concern is after this low pmps, is there a need to lower the entire scale? Is there a correlation between the sudden low pmps n corresponding reduction in dose? Why was there a sudden drop in his BG at pmps wen the insulin wld Hv worn off? His pancreas is producing its own insulin? If this is true, shldnt we lower the vetsulin at the next shot? I'm worried abt tmr cos I can only test him at +3 n then I'm at work till pmps.

I agree no shot
And another point that I need clarification on. I retested twice just to confirm on the readings n each time I get a difference of 20 points. I understand that this is due to the 20% variance in the meter. So when I decide on the dose to shoot, do I average out the readings? Cos the 2 readings could span out within 2 ranges e.g. readings of 235 n 255 require 2 different doses. How do I deal with it? D easiest is to get the average? Most of the times I only do 1 test so it cld be instances of slightly elevated dose or under-dosing.

Not a good day today. Is he still bouncing? Or should I adjust the dose? Peed lots of times today. More than past few days. Any idea why?
