Good morning L&L Land Family!

I got home from my vacation late last night. My mom did a fantastic job of taking care of Osha. Osha did decide to give mom a 38 the other day, so even though it was only her second drop below 50, I reduced her to 5u. I am not a fan of numbers in the 30's. I am super happy with all the blue and green she has been giving me. I hope she can keep up the great work.

I was given an unexpected extra night with Sébastien last night as the drive home from Virginia Beach took 6 hours instead of the usual 4 and he missed his flight. He was dropped off at the airport this morning and will be on a plane home soon.

Our vacation together was the most amazing adventure!! Sébastien @Photorecon is such an amazing man!!!

I hope all the kitties and beans are doing well. I will try to catch up soon. I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night and I now get to spend the day with my students. I hope they are easy on me today! :cat:

It looks like your mom did a great job of taking care of Osha. :D Congratulations on the reduction and good luck with the new dose. I bet Osha is so happy to have you home. :bighug:
I'm glad you had a great vacation with Sebastien.

LOVE THE PHOTOS!!

Congrats to your mom for doing such a good job with Osha. You did the right thing to reduce with a number in the 30's.

From the Lantus Stickie

Long term diabetics - more than one year since diagnosis
  • reduction *earned* after a single drop below 40 mg/dL for those following TR, or
  • reduction *earned* after 3 drops between 40 - 50 mg/dL on three separate days for kitties who have shown they do not hold reductions well and following TR, or
  • reduction *earned* when the cat regularly has its lowest BGs in the normal range of a healthy cat (50 - 80 mg/dL) and stays under 100 mg/dl overall for at least one week and following TR.
  • reduction *earned* after a single drop below 90 mg/dL for those following SLGS.
We highly suggest taking a reduction any time any kitty drops into the 30s or below. There are very few exceptions given for caregivers following TR who have collected years of data and KNOW their cat's response to the combination of insulin and food backwards, forwards, and inside out.

MC would have been fine too, but so is a bit of HC. It's early in the cycle and the insulin is just starting to take affect.

+3 53. Gave her a little more to keep her surfing.

I am ready for bed, but this furry girl has other ideas...

Welcome home! I'm so glad you and Sebastien had such a wonderful vacation (but we missed you!)! Loved seeing your pictures. Kudos to your mom for doing such a good job taking care of Osha. Looks like Osha wants to prove to you how much she missed you by getting you to pull an all-nighter with her, lol! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Come away from the deep end, Osha, there are sharks there, and MamaBean needs some sleep! :cat:

Actually, I misspoke above with another reduction. Since she is a long term diabetic :

So unless she decides to go under 40 again tonight, you'd count this as drop # 1
