She did not want to eat first thing, puked and had pudding poo outside the box on pad. Thank goodness. Finally convinced her to eat 1/4 of ff can. Gave 18units. Paws crossed. Head bumps and scritches

Hi Phoebes, it's uncle Dickson. Come here and let me have a look. Oh, you like that eh? Look, there's Mama! You want to try again? I'll mush it up for you. See, all better now. Stop scaring us!

Tonight will be 6 cycles, so since she didn't hit a green I am thinking I am supposed to. :) just wanted to make sure.
And at some point, the increases can be upped to 2u. If you look at January on Bronx's SS, you will see how I increased when we got to the high teens, but it was on the aggressive side and didn't see my first blue till 23u. Phoebes has shown you some blues and the last thing you want to do is miss that right dose.

I make my own spreadsheets in Excel because that's all there was when you were 19 Angela. Not a clue bout' blue and that's why I don't publish my gibberish. Sorry.

Yes I see and you added R to the mix. So do you have to give 2 shots then with R? Is it given in same spot as insulin? Is there a stickie I'm missing on R?

Yes, up to 19 units tomorrow. Once you reach 20, the increases can go up by 2 units at a time. For any lurkers, this is a suggestion for Phoebe only who has some type of high dose condition. Think of the increase as around 10-15% of the total dose. Whatever resistance she's got going, we need to make it sit up and pay attention. :bighug:

Feel better soon Phoebe.

What do you do when you give more insulin than what's on the needle stick twice. Divide in half give 2 shots? Is there bigger syringes you use?

Hi Angela, I am so sorry your girl didn't feel like eating right away and had the pudding poo. Oh, poor baby. I hope she starts feeling better ASAP

Have you ever considered a raw diet for her? Maybe her GI issues are food related? Just a thought.

I use a different spot with the R. Like Wendy said, no sticky since it is something that has to be watched closely because even high-dose kitties can have big drops with very little R. I had help with some very experienced R folks on here.

Some people have found that splitting the L dose into two syringes is a bit more effective, some not. Others prefer less sticks. We have had people hold at either 31 (eyeballed) or 60 units to minimize sticks, and make up the rest with R. Sometimes switching from Lantus to Levemir has reduced the amount of insulin needed.
