Last Tuesday I went from 3.25 to 4 BID. Seeing these constant 300s at the 4 u I'm wondering if I missed the right dose. If so- how do I go back down safely. Pls see SS. The first blues I've seen were a result from that 3 u range and some of the lowest yellows. But following TR I continued increasing.

In regard to hypo risk you can decrease any amount safely. In regards to the risks present of higher blood sugar levels, such as ketones, That depends on those present conditions. You can go back to 3.25 at the next shot safely in regard to hypo risk though. If you believe that was too low, then a dose of 3.5 would be appropriate. Was there something like ketoacidosis present which had you leap well beyond the recommended 1/4 unit increase?

I had (inadvertently) started out at 4 units...I was misread syringe units. Should have been starting at 2u. But when we started testing 3 days later the numbers were good. Long story- I messed up those first few days. So last week when I wasn't seeing improvement at 3.25 I jumped to 4- my thinking being he had good results at 4 u. I am thinking it was yet again a mistake. No ketones. Behavior, stools, urine, and appetite are all good. A little over a month in to this and some days I feel as it's the first day all over again.

I think tomorrow am I will go to 3.5 units and see how that goes for 6-10 cycles.

You did have several numbers in the 200-300 range at 3.25 so really should have taken only the 0.25 and not the 0.5 increases in the TR guidelines. But I would say you weren't very far off from meeting that requirement. It is possible you'll just be back at this level. I started to find with Boo that he liked holding mid 200's levels for 4 or 5 days before dropping due to increases. It might be possible you would get results waiting a bit longer than the 6 cycles of the protocol.

I'm a year into this sugar dance and it often has its frustrations.

So if I do reduce and it "fails" I can come directly back to the current (4.25) level correct? Trying to wrap my head around TR. thanks for your help.

I don't think I would interpret this situation as a failed reduction from a good dose. If I remember correctly, its used when you had a good dose go too low on BG test requiring a reduction. In that case it says you go back to the last good dose. However your not reducing because of hitting the reduction number, and I'm not sure why you would call this a good dose.

I think if you go to 3.50 for 6 cycles and nadirs are less than 200 but over 50 you should hold until at least 10 cycles before increasing. If nadirs less than 300 but over 200, then increase 1/4 to 3.75 and if nadirs stay above 300 then increase by 1/2 unit to 4.0

I don't think you missed the good dose. You just started to see blues on 4.0 units, but they didn't come back. The increase to 4.25 units was warranted. I would give this dose 6 cycles, or one more day, then re-evaluate the dose. Unless you see blue again tomorrow, the TR protocol would have you increasing to 4.5 units the day after.
