Cinnamon started his insulin ( Lantus) today .. vet gave first shot at 10am but i need to get him on a 6am and 6pm test/feed/shoot schedule due to my work hours during the week .. his pre shot reading this morning was 170 ( he had breakfast at 6am and i pulled up all remaining food at 7am as his appointment was at 9:15am) .. at 4pm i took a reading and he was 82 .. the vet recommended testing him at 8pm and if he was 170 or higher to give him 1 unit at that time and then i could go back to a 6am test/feed/shoot starting tomorrow morning.

does this sound correct?

if he is within normal range at 8pm should i skip the pm shot and just do the 6am test/feed/shoot at that time?

honestly with that much of a difference in time I would skip tonight and just start at 6 am tomorrow morning.

his numbers seem to really have come down the last week. I am wondering if 1 unit is too much with the lower young again food. You might only need a .5 dose.... but I'll let someone with more lantus experience weigh in here on this.

they dropped from the 300's to 200s after i switched his wet food to just the Special Kitty Pates, he hasn't been eating all that much YA Zero .. i filled the bowl up 5 days ago and there is still a good inch deep of food in it so he must just be eating a few pieces of it per day

They eat that slowly because it's nutrient dense and high in calories. Takes my cats a few days to eat a bowl of it and that's with several of them eating.

I have 2 large bowls, food storage containers, the 1 I have for Cinn in my bedroom holds 2 cups and the other I use for the other 6 holds 4 cups, I am adding 1 - 1 1/2 cups a day to the larger bowl and they are also on the same wet food, 3 13 oz cans split into 2 meals. I don't know if Cinn just doesn't like the YA Zero or the wet food is filling him up enough that he only needs to pick at the YA Zero. my other 6 go back and forth between wet and dry eating a little of both every time they are hungry
