Hi, I'm Orry. I was posting all my updates on my welcome thread but it was suggested to come to this one now that I'm not a newbie.

Momma is not looking for dosing support so she chooses not to make my spreadsheet public here. My pDVM has access to it. She is looking for people support. All she has is me and my sister.

But.... I have a dosing change again. Up by 0.5u morning and night so 1.5u and 1u. I was at 2u 2x/day when I started but there were too many hypo events so it got dropped but now, I'm too high again, so it goes up. My nadir at last full curve was 225mg/dL.

The only thing I would eat is the Fancy Feast Grilled but it is 14% carb and since I got my appetite back, I'm eating too much of it. Momma has to transition me to the Fancy Feast Flaked which 4% carb. I know Momma would rather I eat the Classic... but pates are nasty.

Momma was wondering why curves should be done in the day time... can't they be done in the night time? Momma doesnt do too well before coffee time.

It is important to get some testing in the overnight hours since most kitties drop more at night. Many of us will test before bed to see which way their kitty is heading and if it looks like they are trending lower, it's time to set the alarm and do a test around the predicted nadir that night.

If a cat's blood sugar goes lower than he is used to, or the blood sugar goes down too fast, the cat's body may react by bouncing. Bounces can last for up to 3 days. If the last curve was done on a day when he was bouncing, then it may not be a good time to do the dose increase. Do you do mid-cycle tests on a regular basis?
Good luck on transitioning him to a lower carb food. My cats have always liked the Fancy Feast Chunky and the Fancy Feast Roasted varieties that are a little higher in carbs then the pates but less than the Grilled flavors. When lowering the carbs your cat eats, you will need to test more as that will affect his BGs.

Hey there! You have come to the right place for support. We can help you with the dosing as well as most vets don't have the experience that this board has with that and I noticed you said your dose :

We recommend to change doses in .25 increments so that you don't go over the correct dose. Also, we shoot the same dose AM /PM as Lantus needs to be consistent that way so the depot can get stabile.

If you change your mind about making your SS public we can help you. I for one am forever grateful to this board and their knowledge and expertise otherwise I don't think Bubba would be alive right now.
