Julie and Eleanor (GA)

Member Since 2012
There was a fire here, started at my neighbor's while I was sleeping I woke up in time to grab Eleanor and Tulip and run out of my bedroom smack into a firefighter who was yelling at me to get out of the house. There are no words to express how horrifying it all is.
Eleanor had been doing very well but now her bg is out of control and I am so exhausted, sick and overwhelmed I don't even know if I am doing the right things.
I was wondering if I could get some of the powerful FDMB prayers and positive vibes for Eleanor?
Also, for a friends cat who was staying with me, Buckwheat, was burned, he is being treated and should be fine but... also several of the strays and ferals I was feeding are missing. I know some of them lived in the neighbors sheds which burnd up.
I no longer have my Tablet so no regular access to Internet, can only get online for a few minutes now and then.
I sure do miss you guys.

Julie I am so Sorry! Tons and tons of vines and prayers. Is your home ok? I sure hope the burned kitty is going to be ok and that the feral kitties are too.
There are no words for how horrifying a fire is. When I was a little girl my family of 5 were in a travel trailer fire and if I had not woke up yelling fire we would have all died. For years I was terrified to have anything plugged into outlets at night while we slept.
Please take care of your self and Fritz sends kitty hugs to Eleanor. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yes of course, we're all here for you and Eleanor :bighug: Tons of prayers and positive vines coming your way.
To you Eleanor, Tulip and Buckwheat. Starting tonight I will keep you all in my thoughts for strength and healing.
Please do try to check in when you can :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Julie, I am so sorry to hear about the fire! I have been through several fires and know how frightening and devastating they can be. Sending you tons and tons of prayers and healing vines, along with special hopes that all the kitties will be found and will be okay. Thank heavens you and Eleanor and Tulip, and Buckwheat, too, made it out safely; fingers and paws crossed that Eleanor's BG will start to settle down once the trauma and shock have worn off. Please keep us updated as you can! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

(((Julie)))
I am shocked and saddened at your news but so glad you and your kitties are safe, what a truly terrifying ordeal it must have been. Sending healing vines for Eleanor and prayers for you, I hope you are able to return home soon. Special prayers for Buckwheat and all the kitties involved, I hope they too are safe. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

{{{Julie}}}

I am so sorry to hear about the ordeal you and Eleanor have been through. The two things I fear most are fire and tornadoes. Total devastation. I am glad you and Eleanor made it through, and that Buckwheat will recover. Sending vines and prayers for the other kitties. Let us know how we can help - you know we care. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm glad you and your kitties and Buckwheat made it out okay. I hope the strays and ferals are all okay. Sending many prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh my, ((((Julie))))) that must have been so scary for you and all the cats and upsetting. I am praying for Eleanor to settle down and for Buckwheat to heal well and quickly and for all the ferals to have escaped and run off before they got hurt. Many :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
When my smoke alarm goes off, my cats hide. I always worry if I can find them in the chaos. Did you put the cats in carriers, or just carry the frightened cats in your arms outside?

(((Julie))) how terrifying that must have been! I'm glad you and your kitties made it out. Will send prayers for all of you, good BG vines for Eleanor and extra healing vines for poor Buckwheat. Hope the ferals are just scared and will come home soon.

Copying the post from the other thread

OMGosh Julie. :bighug: Please let me know if there is anything I can do. If Gizmo was in remission I would offer to come up to help. Fire is such a traumatic event. Never happened to me personally but very close to me numerous times as a child and my Aunt house and my BIL/SIL's as an adult.

Just do the best you can with Eleanor. Cats are really resilient animals. I can send you supplies (insulin, food, needles) if you need them. Again, please let me know.

Adding: what kind of tablet were you using? I might be able to find something (I work in IT)

Oh Julie, will be praying peace, calm, healing over you, Eleanor and Tulip. So thankful you and they made it out alive. Many prayers and hugs coming to you .

Oh Julie! I am so very sorry to hear about the horrible fire experience and am so very glad to hear that you and your kitties are safe and will send healing vines to your friends cat that got burned. Hope you home is okay? Are you displaced? Do you need anything that maybe I could send to you?

@Shoeskitty just posted an OT asking if anyone had heard from you so, we are glad that you have checked in and when you can again please do and keep us posted. Until then we will all be sending lots of vines for you and Eleanor. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Julie, I am so sorry! What a terrible experience. We are so glad that you and Eleanor were able to escape unharmed. Many vines for little Buckwheat to recovery fully and more vines for the ferals and strays.
Liz

So glad you got you, Eleanor, and Tulip safely out. So sorry Buckwheat was burned, but it's good he'll be okay. And I am really sorry the strays are missing. I hope and pray they just ran off because they were scared. Fires are so scary. We've had three and in two of them lost much loved pets. I will be praying for you. I am so sorry you are going through this.

(((Julie))), Surrounding you with love and prayers and giving thanks that you, Eleanor, Tulip, and Buckwheat escaped the fire. I hope the ferals made it out, too. I'm sure that Eleanor will settle down pretty soon. It must have been terrifying for her and the other kitties.
We are sending you lots of strength to get through this traumatic experience. I hope that your house wasn't badly damaged and that your life will begin to return to normal soon.

:bighug::bighug::bighug:s to you and scritches to the kitties.

:bighug:I most fear fire, and am very sorry you went through this. Kudos on saving Eleanor and Tulip. Thank goodness Buckwheat is recovering. Here's hoping your missing ferals show up soon. Eleanor is bound to return to regulation, but what a shock for everyone. Vines and prayers for all of you. I hope you have a safe place to live now. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Julie - HUGS AND HUGS AND HUGS! Prayers too. I'm sharing those scared shivers with you. The house 40' away burned to the ground March 5th - only by the grace of God did we not go too. I shoved animals into crates that had never met, people dragged cages to my truck, I even had to stuff 1 into a litter bucket as had no other handy way to get her safely out. It takes a long time for the effects to go away....

Lots more hugs and prayers.

This trauma will be with you and the kitties for a long time. My heart aches for you. I hope normalcy returns to your lives soon! Prayers that the ferals were able to escape and hopefully just are too scared to return - and gentle hugs to Eleanor and Buckwheat.

Sending hugs and vines to you, how awfully scary.....you are a good mama Bean for getting your kitties out and safe..and for caring for your neighbors injured cat.
I hope Eleanor settles down and that the episode didn't give your health a setback too! Hugs Julie

Oh Julie - I can't believe this happened. Sending you all the love and strength you will need to get through this I am so very sorry
I echo the others who asked what we can do to help you - maybe take @LizzieInTexas on the offer of looking into a tablet for you?
please let us help you

Hi Julie, just wanted to check in and see how you are doing now, after the fire. Hope things are okay! Many (((hugs))), and scritches for the kitties. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: :cat: :cat: :cat:

One of my worst fears! I'm happy to hear you and your babies made it out. Hopefully the ferals will show up hiding somewhere else. My sister lost in laws (nephew and his wife and their dog) in a house fire. Besides our barn burning to the ground when I was 9 or so, that's the closest a fire has been to me.
People joke about how many smoke detectors I have in my house (one in every room so around 10) but I'm not risking it!
I'll be praying for peace and comfort for you all.

What a scary experience.

A few weeks after I bought my house a building across the street had a fire. I remember standing outside watching the embers flying over my roof praying it didn't catch.... I hadn't even finished unpacking boxes yet! Thankfully we were fine.

And you guys will be too. If you can be calm it will help her. I suggest playing soothing music for you.... Music is healing for people and animals. Go to YouTube and look up music to relax my cat.

Praying for you and all the pets and people effected. So sorry but glad you are safe.

((Julie)) I am so sorry you had this experience. I can only imagine how terrifying the event must have been.

Sending you lots of love and hugs. Please let us know how you are doing when you are able to. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

OMG, Julie. My heart is completely broken. I know the horror you felt. I too, had a fire.... 4 years ago. It started in my apartment, in the bedroom, where the only explanation is that Chase knocked over a candle I had been burning (I've not used a candle since). I was awake in the living room, as I had just moved into the apartment 10 days earlier. It was a Friday night, after a long work week, and I was joyfully putting things together to make my apartment my home. The fire moved so fast and the lights all went out and the whole place filled up with thick black smoke. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face. It took me 3 times to go back in and find Chase. Thank God he meowed when I called to him in the soothing voice I managed to muster up. I was terrified for my life, but I kept going back in. I can't imagine my life without my Chase. On that 3rd and final pass, I dove to the floor in the area where I heard him, and even though I could not see, God put me smack in front of him. There were 2 neighbors standing at the door and I picked up Chase by the scruff of the neck and threw him towards the door. One guy caught him and I was out the door. No shoes... just shorts and a t-shirt and my boy in my arms... face covered in soot but otherwise unscathed (except for my shoulder when I hit the coffee table where Chase was under). It was the most horrifying experience I have ever had. I know the feeling of feeling sick and confused. I lost everything in that fire... except for Chase, and although that was enough for me, I wondered around in shock for a week. Chase stayed with ex's mom while I stayed at my son's house. I had no clothes and none of my medication. I am so lucky that Chase was healthier, then, although I do feel like that fire affected him, too. I'm so sorry to hear about the kitters you had been caring for and how they lost their lives. And poor Buckwheat. I will keep him, as well as you and your babies, in my prayers. I'm sure it was heart wrenching for you to only be able to carry 2 kids out. But I also know of your circumstances and what a blessing that you could even do that. You did a great job. :bighug: I'm just so sorry you had to go through this. If I could give you any one piece of advice, Julie, it is that I would encourage you to talk to someone... a counselor of some type. I had PTSD for a year after my fire... until I got help. Where are you staying? You live in Phoenix, right? I'm going up to see my son, soon. Maybe I could visit you? I don't know if I have anything you could use, but let me know what you need and I'll see what I have. I'm getting ready to move back home, to Sierra Vista, so since I'll be packing I will be able to see what I have.

Julie... sweet Julie... my love and prayers are going out to you and the kids... right now. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

You are right... this is such a traumatic life event. :( I had TERRIBLE PTSD after my fire in 2013.

Julie - HUGS AND HUGS AND HUGS! Prayers too. I'm sharing those scared shivers with you. The house 40' away burned to the ground March 5th - only by the grace of God did we not go too. Oh God.... this kind of experience is so horrifying. Yes... it's only by the grace of God that Chase and I got out safely. And yes... it took a LONG time for the effects to go away. But just reading this, and how so many have been affected by fire, brings it back to me a little. It's crazy how trauma affects us. :(

Healing thoughts and positive vibes sent to you and all the kitties affected by this horror.....
