Hi, Lantus peeps! I'm wondering what you all would recommend for Misha at this point, based on his spreadsheet. I'll be home a lot this weekend, as will my DH, so it would be a good time to make any dose adjustments, do a curve, etc. I know it would be good if I had more daytime data, but I usually just can't get it--I am at work/commuting a lot.
At this point, I'm not sure what I'm "shooting for" (pun intended!):
(PS I know whatever anyone recommends is just a suggestion--that there are no "dose advisors"--but I value everyone's knowledge and experience so much!)
At this point, I'm not sure what I'm "shooting for" (pun intended!):
- Should I be trying to get him to *always* stay in the green range, with no blues, as long as I can do it without ever dropping him too low? If so, does that mean I need to try slightly increasing the dose (back to .1 or something--I have calipers now)?
- Is he already in a good shape and I just need to keep him like this for a while so his pancreas can keep healing? For how long should I do that?
- Is it time for an OTJ trial? From what I'm reading, something like 60-120 is the "normal" BG range for non-diabetic cats...he is mostly within that range now, getting a very small amount of insulin...

But I could get a five-meal one. And I could switch to the Relion meter--they seem equally easy to use, and as you say, the AT test strips are SO expensive!!!
