Update on my kitties and myself

Oh Kristen!!!!!!!! How are you doing???? Haven't seen you around in ages (well I was away also for ages hahaha lol:p) How are the kitties and how are you??
I'm good. I was overwhelmed with all of my foster cats for awhile but things have gotten smoother. My regular cats are all good. I still have Oliver. He just celebrated his one year anniversary as a foster cat. I finally placed his brother with another family. I tried forever to find them a home together but it never happened. Oliver has stretches where he seems regulated then he decides to bounce a bit. Overall he's doing really well so I can't complain.

Hey Ruby! It is great to hear from you and so glad that things are moving in the right direction for you! It is wonderful that you are sticking with your therapy and being loving and patient with yourself as you did not develop "stinking thinking " over night rather than over your lifetime so it doesn't go away overnight.

My youngest son went through the same type of therapy and it was the best gift he could have ever done for himself. It is hard work but you are so worth it!

Also good to hear the kitties are doing well! The photos are wonderful!

Congrats on the new job too!

Glad you checked it and so nice that Baco is still OTJ! :bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss:

Ruby, ik wens je veel geluk met Schematische therapie! :)
We have never spoken but I read you updates and understand :bighug:
Ben je Nederlands? Nee wij hebben inderdaad nog nooit gesproken maar ik zag wel eens je likes voorbij komen.

Hi Ruby, good to hear from you! Baco and Minnie look great! Ha! I have to laugh at you and your 'bloody hot' 78! Our spring is over here and it's summer, upper 80's already for highs! I'm afraid it's going to be a miserable, steamy summer as usual for around here.
It sounds like things are looking up for you. That's great. The therapy sounds like hard work, but I know you can do it:bighug:. Congrats on the new job too, hope it's everything you want it to be.
Colin is doing well. I lost a couple of my babies a few weeks ago and I'm still sad about that, but the others keep me busy, so I'm trying to concentrate on them and other things and not dwell on what could have been.
So glad you checked in, and please keep us posted :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Haha lol:smuggrin: well our summers are hot and really high humidity, so if I say for example that it's 26C then it feels like almost 40C here, that's a bit of the problem hahaha! I don't mind heat, i've been to Vegas a couple of times and as you might know it's really hot there. The only difference is the humidity which is almost non out there! So it's acceptable. Here it makes you sweat instant when you wake up in the morning and walk outside for 1 second... :p

Wow, you lost babies? (Kitties?) how come? I'm so sorry for you! :bighug:

Nee sorry, een vriend van me vertaalde het zodat jij het niet hoefde :)
Translating isn't the problem, it's the energy of typing and thinking about the words I would choose to explain myself! But thank you so much for making the effort to translate it to my language! But you do have a dutch friend then I assume?

Hi Bobbie :bighug:

I had to laugh out loud about your 'stinking thinking' comment :p
But you're right, that is so true!
Please let me know how it went for your youngest son! (In PM of course) but I would love to hear that story.

How are you holding up? You can also PM me, but give me time to reply to you (if you don't mind) :bighug::kiss:

Ja een kennis :)
Even as English as my first language, I have issues thinking about how to explain things too :D
I do study a lot of languages though and Dutch has similarities to German

It does look like German a lot, but we don't like to hear that ;)haha lol!

If I can give you my point of view btw on Maury.. i just looked at your SS and it seems to me that the S2.25 has given pretty nice midcycle numbers. (April) and now I see that the last couple of days you've gone to 2 and 1.75. If Maury was mine I would try uping the dose a little and try to get those nice midcycle numbers again like you got when he was at 2.25. (Or a fat 2)

Humid here too! Walk outside and it feels like you get slapped in the face with a wet rag. Soaked by the time I get to my car. You'd think I'd be used to it since I've lived in the area all my life, but I don't think you ever get used to it.
Yes, lost kitty on a Monday and a horse the next Wednesday. Was a bad week....

Noooo @Sharon14 you NEVER get used to humidity in my opinion :arghh: it s*cks SOOO bad!

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your kitty and your horse in one week. :( Were they sick? Old?

Much appreciated! Yes I am heading that direction now but always nice to have another set of eyes :)

You're welcome. Normally (a couple off months ago) I was on the board fulltime helping people with there kitties on Prozinc, but as you know by now I just can't at the moment.
I do want to come back as soon as I feel the time is right again to help all the kitties and there 'parents'.;)

But I thought I would take a look at your SS while i'm online ;) will try to be a little more active the upcoming weeks on the board! So if you need me, tag me or send a PM. Then I get alerts in my email box and come online when I got the time and energy.

Hey Ruby! So glad to "see" you!!! I'm thrilled to hear that you got a new job and that you're doing what you need to do to take care of yourself. Please do let us know how it goes! I've toyed with the idea of trying to find some technique to work on my anxiety lately as it's gotten really bad (it's an all the time thing now rather than just sometimes). Haven't convinced myself, but I'd love to hear how things go for you!

Class was good! I actually finished up and started my job as a programmer on the 1st...and I'm horribly lost at work! :joyful: Gotta learn a whole new language so for now, just working on that.

Please keep us updated!

And KRISTEN!!!! Good to "see" you too!!!!

@Sharon14 oh how heartbreaking! Please don't blame yourself...you have given all your animals a wonderful, wonderful life and they know that. I know it's tough, but I believe Pete was trying to let you know that he's okay and safe and happy and waiting for you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

ETA: That waiting for you part isn't supposed to sound creepy...it struck me after I posted it that it kind of did. I just meant for WHENEVER its your time to go rejoin them...you probably knew that, but I wanted to post just so I didn't sound like a creeper.

I already got it, I start there at June 1 !
So still 2 weeks of holiday and then I'm going to start working. But in the meantime Tara is going to visit me (Tara from Tempest) She was here in November last year and now she's coming to visit me next week again. So I'm super excited!!!!
OMG! I didn't realize you two had gotten together! That's wonderful. How are she and Tempest doing? Say hi for me. :D

It does sound like CBT but it isn't, I've been doing that for 8 weeks and my 'old' pshychologist came to the conclusion that CBT wasn't for me so she send me to her co-worker that gives schematic therapy. It's much more intense then CBT, but it's worth it. CBT helps with certain things but not if you talk yourself down and think your life is worthless etc. And it digs really deep in your childhood to intercept all your 'problems' and why I'm acting or outing a certain way in my life right now.
For example, my mom always said out loud that I wasn't good enough and that I should work harder then I was, and I didn't get good grades in school bla bla bla. But this has an effect on how I'm looking at my life right now. It does make you insecure and act a certain way for example in a conversation with someone. If my BF would say something to me that I need to work harder (in a nice way) I could get OR angry OR really defensive which doesn't make sense as he means it in a good way. But I've been drilled by my mom in my life to be really guarded as it hurts when someone tells me that. So this and many other things are patterns I need to work on to change.

Yes a kilo is a lot on a kitty I know! So I'm so greatful for this weightloss it's such an achievement! They are happy indeed :D Minnie is getting older (I think he's 15 now or 16, need to look it up in his passport) but still really healthy so I'm curious to see how long he will be with us, hopefully long :)

Hahaha I get that you're used to Teasel's bouncy numbers, but wouldn't it be great if he would stay steady..... ugh! Well at least he is doing good, and feeling much better on Lantus then on Prozinc.
Are you also doing ok?
I'm glad you've found something that's helping. The scars of childhood can leave us damaged for a very long time, can't they?

Ruby, so bloody marvellous to hear from you, thank you so much for the update!
You're doing so well and going forward, well done! You are still so young and you can sort it out and be happy again, you have help and a wonderful BF, just forgive your mum, she thought she was doing best for you, we all make mistakes. My mum always tried to stop me dreaming about big things being very practical and down to earth but I still acted on my impulses and did what I wanted but her attitude wasn't helping.
Congrats on your new job, I hope it will be something you enjoy.
So happy to hear that Minnie and Baco are doing great, that weight loss is marvellous!
I'm Ok, not working at the moment because I have no energy and I still don't know what's wrong with me, blood tests are not great but I need more to see whether my doctor can figure out why I feel the way I do. Generally speaking I'm not too bad and I do what I can and don't give a toss about things, try to enjoy my life and accept things but the main thing is I'm not depressed which makes a big difference.
I always worry about my animals but they are quite ok at the moment. Rocky still sails through on a small dose of insulin which is very difficult to do as the doses in syringe can not be accurate and I always seem to get bubbles (drives me mad!) and I get strange results sometimes, recently he had strange numbers but I think he had upset tummy (constipation more likely) and he refuses to go into remission. I have tried not to give him insulin for few cycles to see what will occur but I could see from his behaviour (very meowy and attacking Bailey) that he was not feeling well.
So lovely to hear from you and I hope that we can catch up later.
Sending my love and hugs to you and Rocky is saying hello to Baco and Minnie.:cat::kiss::cat:

Going to reply to your posts soon, but wanted to share this adorable pic with you all. It's still bloody hot in The Netherlands so we just sit outside and hope some wind comes by to cool us of.
The kitties also like it outside as you can see, Baco likes it a lot hahahahahaha

Hey Sharon, that's a sad story, i'm sorry for you :bighug::bighug::(:(

Hey Rachel, good to hear from you!. I will still do updates here of course on how it goes, but I think the first week I will be exhausted from work so I will update in some time later!
Just 2 more days to go and then back to work for the first time in 6 months.. pretty nervous!
The anxiety is such a rough thing to handle, it's not suprising you can't handle that because it takes all your energy. Do you get help with your anxiety?
What type of language are you learning? or are you talking about codes? My BF does codes and it's pretty exciting to see what you can do with it haha lol.

OMG! I didn't realize you two had gotten together! That's wonderful. How are she and Tempest doing? Say hi for me
Haha lol, yes we did last year for the first time. She lives in Ireland so we are not that far apart from eachother. Just dropped her off at the airport this morning, she's flying back in a couple of minutes. We had the best time! Miss her already! I told her you said hi, she wanted me to say hi back! Tempest is doing great, still OTJ and in great shape.

I'm glad you've found something that's helping. The scars of childhood can leave us damaged for a very long time, can't they?
Unfortunately they do :blackeye::(

Heeyyyyy, great hearing from you too!
Hope you get more tests done so you can sort out what the ... is going on with you. It would be great if they found out what is going on because you've been dealing with this issue a long time also.
So you've stopped working ? I think that is a good thing, although maybe you don't think about that now that way? I found it hard to stop working but it helped me get back on my feet and I really needed the time to get better then I was.
Glad to hear Rocky is doing ok, I mean we've talked about Rocky a lot, and maybe he will need a small dose for the rest of his life. If that is the case then it is ok don't you think? I mean he does enjoy life in this way.
We will catch up later, saw your pics on FB btw, they are amazing!

Well short update here from my side, I'm still struggling with Minnie. He is not sick or anything but because he was sick a couple of weeks ago he has lost so much weight (I knew but hadn't put him on the scale yet) I did put him on the scale yesterday and saw he weights only 2.7KG. (5.95LBS) that's nothing. So he needs to put on weight because if he gets sick in the future he has nothing to hold on anymore.
So I did some research and there is this brand Kattovit that has special food for cats that need to gain weight, see below the caption from the product:

"Kattovit (Energy Plus) is a wet food specially developed for cats with increased energy demand. This may be the case, for example, for underweight cats, malnutrition or acute and chronic diseases (trauma, sepsis, tumors, solid parasites, burns). But pregnant, growing or highly active cats need a diet that meets their high calorie needs. Furthermore, it is important that the food is slightly digested. Therefore, this diet is a very large part of chicken, liver, fish and meat that consist of easily digested proteins. Rice has been added as a source of carbohydrates. Added minerals, taurine and valuable vitamins provide a balanced diet that helps your cat to build up the health of his body."

At first I didn't want to try it because of Baco, she may 'steal' his food but I need to do this for Minnie don't you all think? It's high in carbs (it is wet food) but I think I will just give him his regular food in combination with this new brand and hopefully he will gain weight from it.
Well we will see, hopefully the food I ordered will be delivered quick so I can try it out and monitor his weight in the upcoming weeks.

Great to read this, Ruby! That food looks good for Minnie but Baco can't have any for sure. Separate meals in separate rooms. :)

Will make sure Baco doesn't get it. Sometimes I do forget to place Minnie's bowl back in the fridge but that is LC food so when Baco steals it it just makes sure she gains weigh haha lol but not get the HC food.
I will just give Minnie this new food in the evening when I'm sitting here and I can watch them eat seperately so Baco can't steal his food.

Thanks Ruby!
I have a good social life at the moment and I'm not working trying to rest and figure out what's wrong with me. My dizziness came back and I get very tired quickly.
Rocky is doing well, he is always by my side firmly attached to me. He knows that I do everything I can to keep him well and he is very grateful for that.
I'm glad that you found a solution for Minnie - his weight is a concern so hopefully new food will get him more healthy, keeping my fingers crossed for that.
let us know how you coping with your new job, I truly believe that you will do great!
