I'm tempted to try 10.75 units this afternoon. I know it's a tiny fraction but 11 seemed to be too much for that one cycle. Last time he hit greens it looks like he bounced for 3 cycles and started clearing the bounce in the 4th cycle. So maybe I shouldn't go up to 10.75 units... He did drop 400 points on AM cycle 5/6 so maybe this is another bounce from that? Either way we are 3 or 4 cycles out from a bounce. Should be clearing soon.
Thoughts?
Thinking out loud here so if I'm seeing things wrong let me know.
haha I try my best not to be too needy! I know it's been said before to wait 6 cycles past greens before increasing but (yet again!) I'm a bit impatient.:rolleyes:

Also do you think 10.5 is a safe enough dose for the sitter or should I go with 10 units just to make it easier to measure? She is experienced with giving insulin. She use to be a home health aid for a man with a diabetic dog.
I think 10.5 is safe enough. I don't want him to be in the 400s or higher the whole time I'm gone.
She will only be testing at preshot unless for some reason she is shooting on a mid blue. She said she could find time to sneak in another test but not every day.

I'm a little confused. I'm not sure why you reduced Chuck's dose yesterday. If you are following TR, the dose isn't reduced unless the numbers fall below 50 on a human meter. It looks like you're following TR and using a Relion meter.

With TR, you hold the dose for 6 cycles/3 days unless numbers drop below 50. TR is an aggressive approach to dosing so you do not want to be unnecessarily aggressive by increasing the dose until you have sufficient data to to know that it's safe to do so. Being patient can be difficult. TR is based on research so please don't get an itchy finger.

If it were me, I'd drop the dose to 10u while you're gone. No one wants their cat to sit in high numbers but being high is better than being in dangerously low numbers.

I went back to 10.5 units because DH gave the 11 units not knowing I didn't want to increase yet. We also weren't home to test on Saturday pm cycle or to steer if he went low.
Once we are back from vacation we will increase to 10.75 or 11.

I think if I didn't feed him extra/steer him he probably would have earned the reduction.
I'm confused on why it's not considered in the decision of earning reductions... If he didn't have the extra food like on a normal day he wouldn't have the same numbers...

Really good point, Steph.
