BFF in Australia has been recalled (only Australia apparently manufactured somewhere different to US product). I received an email today from the store I buy BFF at to say stop feeding BFF and return to store for refund and for more info contact Weruva. Someone from a different cat forum has apparently contacted them but they wouldn't tell her what the problem is.. So now am I not only losing sleep watching Myrtle for ill effects of the diabetes/ insulin - now I have to worry if she's going to get sick from having eaten the BFF too!! I am very peed off:mad: and frightened :nailbiting:

Found 2 other forums discussing it but they aren't having much luck with company disclosing any helpful information except: take it back. Someone else said the exact same thing on one of those other forums, was it you? :). There was mention that it sounds serious according to their Facebook page, have you looked there? Regardless, with what people are saying, I'd stop feeding it to Myrtle and maybe make a food run today if you can.
Positive vines that Myrtle has no ill effects from the food :bighug:

Hi, no it wasn't me on the other forum but I think everyone is peed off about the lack of info. I've got other food at home and luckily I was mixing the BFF in with her other food while transitioning her to grain free so she hasn't consumed huge amounts. I'll check out their facebook page - didn't think to do that.

So I've just looked at the Petbarn (where I buy BFF) facebook page and the Weruva one. From the Petbarn one it looks like at least a couple of cats have gone in to liver failure. On Weruva Facebook page they are downright refusing to make any info public and say to contact them directly and looks like then giving vague answers or not getting back to people. I will never buy a Weruva product again - this is unacceptable they obviously don't give a damn about the kittys or the anxiety they are putting their owners through - just covering their own backsides. I just want to cry so worried about Myrtle (although she seems ok....)

Just edited to add this update: I phoned the hotline as soon as it opened this morning. Very vague and told me there is no "established" cases of ill health but a response by Weruva on their facebook page suggests that there may have been some cases of ill health. Just told me to take cat to vet if looks unwell and offered to help me find a vet. No thanks! I know where the vet is! I just don't want to be in a situation where I have to take her to the vet. I tend not to swear too much but: &%$###!!!!!!

That's just terrible service. I don't blame you for swearing some! Hopefully Myrtle will be OK since she was getting tiny amounts but they should still be concerned / sympathetic to those kitty's who went into liver failure. What if those were human kids? They shouldn't underestimate fur parents either!

We all remember melamine in cat food? Every store I went to had a carefully worded and informative reason posted why certain foods were pulled. Not the big XYZ in eastern Canada! Just a hand scrawled note written with a crayon like it was a big secret and as usual, we don't need to know. Oh thanks, you're so much smarter than us! Donkeys!
