I just realized this is only the 3rd green AMPS Rex has had. Last time I shot a green AMPS, he earned a reduction. Do you think I should check on him around lunch time?

Wow Rex!!! You are rocking the green color. I would def check on him at lunch if you can to just make sure he is going to do any funny stuff. :D

I ended up going home early with a bad headache. Rex was 85 when I got home. Now he's 51. Do I let him cruise or feed?
In retrospect, I would have fed him and kept him surfing to give him a least a few cycles with this new dose since this is only 3rd cycle with it. As we have said before, when they get reductions too close together, it can fail. But, since Rex is our resident Trickster......and is on a mission......and hit the 40's today, you should reduce. The worse thing that can happen is the reduction fails and you have to take him back up again. But, Rex is going to prove us wrong.

I struggled with that. In my mind, if I had run home at +6, would he have been higher before he took a dive? I wouldn't have known and wouldn't have fed before going back to work. He keeps me guessing. One day, he rises and the next day, he drops. His nadir is all over. Let's hope the new reduction holds.

Oh boy...... see what I mean??? He is proving us wrong. He is racing down the dosing ladder! I am sure you fed him a little food ( I would do a little MC ) to boost him up some. Rex, you are keeping Momma hopping!

I take that this is an active cycle. I had a post asking if it was, but it didn't post.

No, I didn't feed. I should though. Just tired of constantly boosting him up. I should have done the 50/50 mix.

I just don't want to see you have a failed reduction and go into higher numbers and then have to reel him back in. It is easier to help them surfing than to try to bring them down again. If he is after another reduction, it will be more difficult to keep him above 50, for instance, more frequent feedings and higher carb food.

I am not understanding the last sentence. Can you clarify?

So, if you have to keep feeding him to keep his head above water and or/ bring out the higher carb food and you have to keep repeating that, then he is really begging for another reduction. Does that make sense?

Yes, I understand now. But how could that be if I just reduced tonight's dose? I know the depot is in play...

Yes , the depot will still be at play. If we can keep him surfing, that is ideal . But, when they are racing down the dosing ladder it is harder to keep their heads above 50 no matter how frequently you feed and or even if it is higher carb food. It will reveal itself to you as the cycle plays out. My point is if you can keep him surfing that is the best option now. But if our Trickster wants yet another reduction he will let you know no matter what you do to hold it off.

A cat is eligible for only one reduction in a day, right?

I'm wondering if I should feed him MC food only at AMPS? Not the 50/50?

Good. Don't wait longer tha 20 minutes to test and feed again. We don't want him hanging out in the 30's.
