I need to get harnesses for both kitties for my move in june.

I've tried a BUNCH for my civvie, but have only find one that seems to fit properly... downside, even when its tightened correctly, Ive seen her shimmy out of it. I don't want that when I am stopped at a random truck stop.

Rex is 13lbs and Gordy is 17lb (he is just large).

Any suggestions?

Have you looked at small dog harnesses? Maybe they would fit your "odd shaped" cat. By the way what is an odd shaped cat? I laughed when I saw the title - So cute! I hope I haven't offended you due to a possible deformity the cat has??? but it was such a cute way of describing your cats.

I have tried the dog ones on her too. Its weird. She seems normal... but nothing fits! I think her body proportions are off or something....

I've never had one get out of it altho' I'm sure, with enough flopping, they might be able to....In a case like moving or traveling, I'd likely use a double leash.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

I got this dog harness... seems to work for my civvie Rex. But Gordy hasn't moved since I clipped it. It seems like itll be fone though. He has never had a harness before.

The look on Gordy's face speaks volumes!!! He is NOT impressed. :D

Have you heard about the thundershirt it might help with keeping him calm too http://www.thundershirt.com.au/thun...ID=e0u5tva82bl76nn2ftc151lqq4&___store=au I've been thinking about getting one for Myrtle for trips to the vet too. Interesting how they can slip out of a normal harness - Myrtle has done this if she has been startled while out in the backyard to run back to the house and I can never figure out how she does it as everything is still snapped in place but she is no longer in it!

They back out of it like the way you slip out of a T-shirt.
For traveling I use a very tight fitting harness, where you can only slip one finger between the harness and the cat. When J.D. was 17 pounds, we had to go to the dog aisle. He thought it was really embarrassing. I have only used regular harnesses, the kind that kind of look like horse halters. I only get the kind that have 2 connecting straps, both the strap that connects the neck band to the girth band across the top of the the cat (back) and another across the bottom (belly). I find if they only have one the one on top the harness (and leash hook) tends to slip to the side.
