The other cat in the house seems to be constipated. Any home remedies for this? He will not eat wet food of any sort and yes we know it's important to transition him but need to focus on one cat at a time. He exclusively eats EVO because he has to eat what Angel eats.

He has thrown up twice so far this morning. First time was just after gobbling his breakfast so it was barely digested. Second time was more liquedy. He goes to the litter box often and strains but no poops. Just the last 20 minutes he had a bunch of runny poops on his butt that we cleaned up.

4 months ago he had a urinary blockage that we mistook for constipation because of the straining in the litter box. At that time he was leaving little dime sized pees with spots of blood. Completely different this time. He's squatting in the position to poop and even making weird noises as he strains.

It's hard to give the usual remedies if he won't eat wet food. You might need to have the vet give an enema.

I wrote this for FD kitties but just ignore those two words, the amount and side effects still apply :)

Another alternative is to increase fiber but with sugar kitties the best option for that is pumpkin (not raw pumpkin). You can use 100% canned pumpkin without additives, fillers, spices, or sugar. Add about 1/2 teaspoon for adult cats to each meal, total of 1 tablespoon daily. Don't want to give a lot because it is a natural laxative so you will want to monitor stool firmness. Yes, poop duty :p. Some kitties will eat the pumpkin without mixing it in wet food.

Are you absolutely sure he is trying to poo - that he is not completely blocked up urine-wise? I've had cats with cystitis and it's very hard to tell the difference from their posture in the litter box. IME they will often poo when actually their problem is with the urinary tract. hope your cat is ok.

Same thing happened here, looks like one thing but it's something else; the mysteries of the litter box. An enema is not as dramatic or painful as you might think. Daniel had a micro-enema last week and it was over in 10 minutes. Hoping for the best.

Yes, puking, pumpkins, pooping and enemas. This is definitely not a dating site. Well, it could be but if someone brought that up on a first date, "Check please, here's $20 for a cab, don't EVER call me again".

LOL

I have had good luck with my civvie's constipation with acidophilus. I bought it at walmart. It's the stuff for humans. I give him 1/4 of a pill in each can of food he eats. You could try mixing the remedy you choose to use with tuna water. Most cats can't resist tuna water!
My civvie gets runny poo and will literally try to poop whenever and WHERE EVER he is when he feels the need when he's constipated. I end up following him around trying to get a paper towel under his butt until he finally gets it out. The things we do for our cats!
