Yesterday - if you want to read all about the excitement Rex caused!!

Rex is obviously bouncing now, both from all the lime greens and from the reduced dose last night.

He had a 253 at +10 this morning so he was continuing upwards at AMPS.

However, he may clear the bounce quickly like the time he had a NS on Saturday morning and was back into the greens on Monday.

@Bobbie And Bubba called it with the bounce!

The bounce is expected after those numbers yesterday. I'm glad you were able to be there with him. Congrats on the reducie.

Yep, those bounces after those lime green dips are to be expected. But, look how long he was in greens and blues! Good for the pancreas. It was so nice that you were able to be home with him. Most of the times our kitties have horrible timing. Rex is one very considerate cat! :cat:

Part of that was on me... I knew bad weather was coming so I already knew I would shoot no matter how low it was (but probably not if it was like 70) and monitor. I think I went through more than 50 strips in 3 days. Time to stock up again. But I am glad for the breather today so I can focus on work. :bookworm: I'm off for 3 days after this.. ready, Rex?;)

@Bobbie And Bubba, I have a question about a comment you made yesterday. "Some MC carb foods would be Fancy Feast Roasted. And the HC ones would be the Fancy Feast that say Gravy Lovers."
On catinfo.org food chart, the FF Roasted foods are only 4-6% and FF Gravy Lovers are 15-20%. I'm giving Friskies Mixed Grill pate, which is 5%.
What is considered MC and what is considered HC in terms of carb %? Now I can't remember exactly what I have at home for "MC," but if I remember the flavor right, it's 17%.

Fancy Feast must have changed the Roasted formula as they used to be considered MC and is what I had used.

Here is the guidelines for LC, MC, and HC

Low Carb is 1% -10 %
Medium carb 10% - 17%
High carb is 18% and above ( usually will have “gravy" in the name)

Rex, Rex! Blue at PMPS? 144!
Hot diggity dog! Get a +2 to see how active the cycle will be and then you will know how much more testing you will need to do. Surf it Rex.

Oh boy, looking like it's going to be an active cycle. You can feed the curve to flatten him out some because we don't want him to earn a reduction again this soon . A little LC food maybe 2 tsp or so could help him surf without diving. If you can keep him from any real big drops tonight , it will help to lessen the bouncing.

I can't stay with you tonight as I have to go get my mom ready for bed. If you need any help change to title and say something like HELP! But, I think you'll do just fine.

Thank you for letting me know you need to leave. Just curious, why don't I want another reduction this soon? What's the thinking behind that?

I can't remember if I gave you this link before. It is a great post from Jill about "feeding the curve". Scroll down to post # 15.

When the reductions are too close together they usually won't hold because the last depot ( the dose you shot tonight ) wouldn't have filled completely. It takes 4 -6 cycles for the depot to fill. If he earned another reduction this soon and you lowered the dose tomorrow, you would lose momentum with him in higher numbers and not coming down. So, it's best to prevent them too close together. And if Rex could stay in nice blues and high greens tonight, that would be great healing time for his pancreas and would help to lessen any bouncing later. Not a guarantee but it would really help.

And that said, some cats start racing down the dose ladder but I am not so sure that is Rex at this point time.
