That's what I'm worried about. I know it could still take time, but how much time should I give it before I think about starting her on a different insulin.
 
I know they have a section on advanced dosing styles including dosing every 8 hours but that's on the stickies on the prozinc forum. I'm not sure if it would work with vetsulin. Any experienced members want to chime in on this?
 
Smoky was the same way on vetsulin as Angel. At first, his BG was in high numbers and then he started having good mid day numbers but pre shots in the reds and blacks. I switched over to Prozinc and after about a month on that he did a complete turn around. I'm not saying that you should change insulins, just telling you my results I had.
 
If this is a possibility I would love to give it a try. I feel good about vetsulin because she has had no weird side effects while on it and is a happy kitty even tho her numbers are high preshot.
 
That's great that she does so well on the vetsulin.:) Every cat is different though, I really like that phrase. It's still early in the game for Angel yet, maybe you both just need a little more time. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing a terrific job with her. Vetsulin and Prozinc are both in and out insulins so I would think the 8 hour dosing schedule might work for both.
I would still let the more experienced members using vetsulin guide you down that road.:joyful:
 
You are right about that. Vetsulin didn't even last Smoky 8 hours and he had a bad reaction to it. I thought about doing the dosing every 8 hours but it would have been impossible as I work full time job
