After TWO months, I'm FINALLY seeing Baxter's numbers come down!! It's a miracle!! AND due to the great advice on this forum. I hope it stays along this trend, but I will definitely be checking his BS prior to injections and during the night to make sure they are now not going too low. As mentioned, I'm a dietitian and mainly deal with diabetics, but I have never seen anything as crazy as trying to control blood sugars with cats!! Soooo very frustrating. Their little bodies sure work differently than humans. Thanks everyone and I'm crossing my fingers that his BS stay down. I've had enough of the scary 500-600's.

Such a beautiful blue! Go Baxter! Isn't it amazing how our emotions track the colors on the charts? My Yum seems happier too when she has yellows and blues.

Yes!!! And he's. It as lethargic. This has been so emotional. I just couldn't wrap myself around why blood sugars would go up as you increase units . Made no sense to me but now I understand everything is different with diabetes in cats .

It is wonderful to see a break in the relentless pattern of black, red and pink.

Glad you will be adding PM cycle testing - without it half the picture has been missing. You'd be surprised where a kittys BG can go on the overnights. ;)

Amen!!! You can say that again!

Congrats! Keep up the good work Baxter, and Cindy, keep up the testing through each cycle to know how low the insulin is taking Baxter. With the recent increase 3 cycles ago, the depot is almost full so make sure you get a before you go to bed test tonight to make sure he is safe. And a really good one to get tonight also would be a +2 to see how active this cycle is going to be. Remember, if the +2 is the same or lower than the PMBG then the cycle will be active and you will need to test more.

Nice daytime nadir! It must be such a relief to find an effective dose after all that red and black. The TR guidelines advise to hold this dose for 8-10 cycles:

if your cat is new to numbers under 200, it is recommended to hold the dose for at least 8-10 cycles before increasing.

sing those blues!!!
