What is up with these super active cycles! I'm thinking this is probably still the 2 units draining even though we have decreased to 1.5? Should I stick with 1.5 or decrease more? He got a meal and will test again in an hour.
Crazy-making and stressful but look at him run down the dose ladder! I'd hold that dose for now unless you're worried about him being alone overnight.

What does the two test numbers in the boxes mean?
I saw that big drop at +3 and figured he would keep dropping. He'll probably bounce through the night. I think sticking with the current dose for right now is fine.

I'll do multiple tests sometimes to make sure my meter is reading correctly so I'll record both readings.

Have you seen any problems or way off numbers between the two, lately? Each one can have a 20% variance, in the opposite direction.

Yes, I was having an issue with my previous meter giving me numbers that were completely different and above and beyond the 20% variance so I just switched to the older Alpha Trak model (found a brand new donated one) and it's been giving me good readings but I'll still double test sometimes to make sure.

Do you have any theories as to why he's been so high in the mornings? I'm thinking probably bouncing but we used to see a lot more pinks even on higher doses?
He's responding very well to the insulin right now and is probably going quite low overnight at this dose. He's quite a bouncy boy so you're getting black in the AM.

I think, in the past two days anyway that he is probably bouncing in higher numbers over night and you are seeing the tail end of that bounce. Of course it's all speculation without those tests.

May I ask why you are decreasing in 0.5 increments instead of 0.25? Newbie here! :bighug:
Rusty got down into the 30s on an Alpha Trak meter (which run higher than human meters). Usually we recommend reducing when a cat goes below 68 on an Alpha Trak. So the extremeness of the low number plus the fact that Rusty is at a shelter and no one is there to monitor him overnight, is why the 0.5 reduction was recommended.

ETA I just realized that I accidently wrote Sprocket's name by mistake.
