Come on down Sprocket ( love his name! ) The bounce can last 3 days to 6 cycles. Hope he clears it soon.

He sounds like he is feeling great!

Jenna is worried he may be insulin resistant and not bouncing.

Any thoughts on that??
It depends on the cause of the insulin resistance. It can be caused by other health issues that result in the need for much higher doses - eg. acromegaly or insulin antibodies. Eventually a high dose will be reached that works to get BG down.

It can also happen when a cat spends too much time in high BG numbers and the excessive glucose affects the ability of his body to respond to insulin. This can be called "glucose toxicity". This is reversible by slowly and carefully raising the insulin dose until you reach a "breakthrough" dose that pulls the BG down effectively. That's why you'll have to be brave and continue with the 0.25 u increases until you see more blue and then dark green numbers.

Ok but problem is he keeps dipping into the blues or greens too fast. Then he goes up for awhile again.
He had high (probably 400-600s) in past before March. Last year could of been all over. I gave different food from about december-feb not knowing it was high carb and he ate it alot.

He still needs to get to those blues and greens. It's only happened on two days, March 31 and April 6, that I can see in your 2017 data on your SS. That's not a frequent problem - scary when it happens but you know what to do.

Here is the quote from condo I think you might find VERY helpful, this from post #13:
"...When you see the glucose starting to dive like a bomber, instead of feeding low carb, you steer the numbers by feeding small amounts - 1-2 teaspoons of medium carb - 1 or more times to keep the drop from being too severe and triggering the 'bounce' response."

Ducia does drops, very annoying. and the drops are followed by Pink bouncing. I try to feed in smaller portions. Not always able to do it at night...

I do hope it helps, great info there.

This doesn't act like insulin resistence - he wouldn't dive so hard and low if that were the case. If glucose and glycogen (bounce sugar) could be measured separately, I suspect you'd find glycogen from a liver release when he's high. I think his body is just taking time to recover from all he's already been through. As he recovers more and things like his electrolytes are more in line and correct, this will settle down. That will just take time...as much as we'd love to push that clock faster, it just takes time.

This is what I was told to do. And did. Although I put water in everything he eats.

This is good to know. I just hope he starts some patterns for me to go by so I can feed & leave the house & I know he will be ok. I have missed many appts plus hard to not be reliable for petsitting. And I now have a funeral this week too.

I just went outside to do a little yardwork and felt weird leaving him.

Ok. +2.5 /209.
Since last bg he ate his dinner 2oz of a 3 carb. That was at 630pm. 815pm he ate .75 of 2 carb.
Then tested at 9:20pm.
So my question is if similar tomorrow night am I able to leave house safely with just feeding him for 1 1/2 hour- 2hrs to go petsit??
Or even a little lower in bg??
I need to know. I have 3 night visits next 3 nights. Can I do them?
