4/22 Yum: 6 hours of yellow!!!

Wow - Yum is rocking the yellow!
There is an adage (one of many) around here that a yellow cycle often precedes and active cycle.
So if the yellow continues and being the PM cycle today will be the 4th cycle at 4u -now would be a good time to take inventory of your supplies...;)

Celebrate those yellows! They will be back. Doodles was notorious for taking his time in working a new dose ..meaning 6 cycles and if there was blue I'd give him 8 before increasing because of the IAA. I see good things coming just keep doing what you're doing
 
Yum's Pre shot today in the AM cycle was lower than she has seen so she is bouncing now. Do not despair. She will come down again.

Well, I am despairing. What are other options? I put her in critical care and they use short acting insulin to stop the bouncing? Is that an option?

As a very experienced user of short acting insulin in combination with Lantus , I would not recommend it in Yums case at this time all things considered.

It does not stop the bouncing- Yums counter regulatory system is still overreacting - it just puts a ceiling over it.

I agree with Sandy. I don't think you need to put Yum through that stress at the vets and the added expense right now. Yum has only been on insulin for not even 4 months yet.

We have a saying around here for bouncing and it's "Put on your patience pants" They bounce until they don't. Bounces can take 3 days or 6 cycles to clear. Some cats never stop bouncing and one such cat bounced all the way into remission. Check at @Tara & Ivana SS. Here's a pair for you to borrow.

Okay. I was thinking a hospital intervention might give her body a rest from glucose overdose and the bouncing would stop. I guess it's not as simple as that. Not simple ever. Thanks for all the expertise here. And the hope inspiring examples.
