As some of the senior members know - Rudy is on an accelerated dosing schedule.

After 4 cycles with no blue - we've increase by .25. One of the 4 cycles prior to this last increase on 4/17 was a fur shot. I was unaware that this should be counted as a no shot and 4 cycles should have passed AFTER the furshot before I increased him again. I had no idea. Senior member advised that I hold the 4.5 unit dose for 6 cycles since I goofed by counting the furshot.

This AM was 6 cycles at 4.5. If he does not have a blue today - ok to move him to 4.75 at PM shot?

See conversation of 4 cycles/6 cycles/furshot here:

If you are unfamiliar with Rudy's 4 cycle dosecreases - see here:

Rudy, last night was not pretty! You can do better, let's see some pretty yellow and blue today.

I know. Pinks all night. Bleh.

Did you see my question about a PM dosecrease for him today in the original post? It's not urgent, but I know you've been looking in on us, so I figured I'd get your opinion. :)

I just looked at the SS and I am not seeing a FS. This is cycle 6 on this dose and if you don't see blue today, I would take him up to 4.75 tonight. You are doing a great job with monitoring him.

Are you testing for ketones? I think I would on any cycle where you see pinks.

FS was given morning of 4/16 or 4/17. I put a note in the notes column.

I do not test for keytones. I don't think I would be able to with him. Hard to catch him in the litterbox. Plus, he shares with his civvie sisters. The vet did check him a few weeks back and he was clear. He's due for another vet check in the near future too.

Oh okay, can you put a FS in the unit column so peeps will know that at a glance.

I understand about the shared LB, I have the same problem. Have you considered a ketone meter? That is what I did and it made my life so much easier.

A keytone meter? Does it take a drop of blood instead of pee? He lets me use him as a pin cushion, so I can get blood no problem. That would make checking him super easy. Which one do you use?

Yes, you use a drop of blood and what I would do would be to get both meters ready and use the same blood sample so I wouldn't have to poke him twice. I bought the Abbott Precision Xtra. It is only around 30-35 dollars. It's the strips that are expensive. The cheapest place I found the strips was Universal Pharmacy in Canada.

ETA : I got it on Amazon

I had no idea there was a ketone meter that uses a blood sample. I'll pick one up for him. Thanks for the info!
