I can't recall or find the theory about feeding within 2 hr time frame of PMPS. Jimmy is due for his PMPS and insulin in an hour but he had some noms within the 2 hr time. Thoughts?
Thanks. He def ate less than 1.5 ounces of beef Natures Instinct. The number was high-ish. I'm going to do a test at +4 tonight. I feel them every few hours throughout the day. I will have to plan a little better- but he's accustomed to this pattern so he's going to be hangry for sure. When you are new and gathering data about Jimmy, it is best to not feed after +10 because the carbs can influence the preshot number. This is more of a concern if kitty's numbers ate low and you don't know if the number would otherwise be safe to shoot.
How much and what food did Jimmy eat? You may be OK. Try keeping some zero carb snacks around in case they absolutely need food early.
Oops! I feed them every few hours lol. Of course I feel and pet them more often than that! HaThanks. He def ate less than 1.5 ounces of beef Natures Instinct. The number was high-ish. I didn't understand why you had to correct yourself. It took me a few times reading through before I finally got it. Lol! My cats act starving when I get home from work because my old routine was to feed them as soon as I get home but when Rex was dx'ed, that went out the window because that's now his +10.Oops! I work from home but when my husband comes home and there is activity they get all meowy. Maybe I'll give him the bits of chicken I made for him instead of his "real" food just to stall a bit. I think that may be why all his PMPS numbers are high. It's a plan anyway...thanks for your help!!I didn't understand why you had to correct yourself. You also have a high dose cat... which can make a difference.A lot of times my boy starts getting hungry at +10 or +11 so I test him at that point before he eats and skip the PMPS test which will be food influenced. I know that is not the right way to do it, but he has yet to give me a light green # ever so I haven't had a real scare yet.
