Looking at his SS with those high numbers consistently I need to ask is there any other health issues? I don't know about the dry food calories but I am wondering if the dry food his contributing to the high numbers? Also if your following the SLGS it looks like your suppose to stay with the dose for 1 week. I'd like to see some older more experienced members take a look and see if they can give advice.
@Wendy&Neko , @Doodles & Karen can you please take a look at the SS. :)

Even for TR we're supposed to hold for 3 days. They say bounces last 3 days. Rudy's SS looks a bit like Yum's---a dose increase brings an improvement and then it fades. So frustrating.
I put Yum on antibiotics for a while. I might have her WBC checked again.

I've been following an amped up dosing schedule as indicated by senior members here. .25 increase every 4 cycles til I see a blue then switch to SLGS dosing protocol. No blue yet. This morning was his 4th cycle at 4.25. He should get another increase tonight. See this post below - also has a link to original post with dosing instructions for him:

I don't know why his numbers aren't coming down. He had bloodwork and a UA before we started any insulin. Got a clean bill of health except for the diabetes and some gingivitis that was treated with abx. The dry food he eats is zero carb Young Again. Shouldn't mess with his #s. He also seems to hit his nadir way earlier than +6. No idea why that happens either.

Thank you for this information. I will read about the amped up protocol.
Someone posted to me about IAA today---insulin auto antibodies. I will read about that too.
I spend way too much time staring in frustration at Yum's chart.

You're welcome. I wouldn't change Yum's dosing schedule to Rudy's without checking with the senior members on here. They suggested this way of increasing him because his starting dose of Lantus should have been at least 2 units higher when we switched from ProZinc. I'm new at all this, so I'm not one to give advice on how to dose Yum. That's best left to the experts. :)

SLGS the dose is held for 7 days however sometimes we need to do things differently when a kitty is stuck in these numbers until the break through dose i.e. at least some blue shows up. However, you have been raising his dose too soon even for TR. TR is an aggressive protocol as written and doses are held for 6 cycles unless there is a medical condition that might warrant raisin it earlier. This is especially for lurkers to understand. This being said and our favorite saying here is ECID.

I read through the previous condo you had linked in regards to Rudy being on 4u of Prozinc so understand the fast tracking a bit. I see you raised his dose to 4.5u tonight after only 3 cycles of 4.25u. While not recommended I think you are fine and test enough. Please hold the 4.5u for a minimum of 6 cycles. Lantus is a depot insulin and takes that long for the depot to fill and see what the dose can do. Not sure if you've read this sticky but it helped me understand Lantus What is the Insulin Depot

My Doodles became IAA (78%) almost a year after he was a well regulated kitty and we hit 12u of Lantus. Every kitty gets to a dose that works for them so try not to be concerned at the amount...they need what they need. Easier said than done and we all understand what you're going through so hang in there and keep posting.

Thank you. I have read the stickies. And I refer to them any time a random question pops in my head.

Rudy had 4 cycles at 4.25. Dosecreases have been in the evenings. Saturday night is when he last moved up. (Unless my very first fur shot Sunday morning counts as a missed dose - then he did only have 3.)

I'll hold for 6 cycles going foward and seek further advice/instruction from the seniors at that point.

I'm willing to do what it takes. He really needs to start making better progress, but I know I can't force it.

Thank you. I'm very sorry you lost Doodles. My Sphynx was just diagnosed with HCM and CHF last week. So I'm learning what you went through in 2 separate cats. It's so hard to deal with them being sick. Again - I'm sorry for your loss.

My heart breaks for you. The good news is you caught the HCM/CHF. Doodles did well for just shy of a year with his HCM/CHF and progressed every 3 months. On top of IAA (insulin resistance) he eventually became resistant to the heart meds amongst other things. Thank you for the condolences, it hasn't been easy. Feel free to tag or message me anytime. I'm not on every day but do try to check at least once a day. Sending lots of vines and prayers for your babies.
