We ordered some Zobaline from Amazon (using the link on the page!), and will be starting that as soon as it arrives

FINALLY found some freeze dried treats that she will eat. :) Angel has always been a treat obsessed, canned food gravy lovers with extra gravy kinda cat lol and I've felt so guilty taking those things away from her. I'm happy she likes these. :)

BG checking could not be going any more perfect. She is such a well behaved perfect girl. :) I've gotten really good at poking and usually get blood the first poke and am completely done within 30-45 seconds. This is something I really struggled with in the beginning so it's a huge relief.

Angel's BG numbers seem to be pretty good during the day but all of her preshot numbers are so high. :( Any advise as to why this is happening? Is this ok as long as she's at good numbers during the day after her shot? Also, it kind of seems like very big drops from preshot to maybe +4 or +5, yes?

Ketones negative today. Everything else is great. Appetite normal and all around a happy, loved kitty.

Thanks everyone. :) So thankful for my new kitty loving friends!

If anyone ever wants to add me on FB or Instagram my handles are just my name. :)

You're getting some really nice blues and greens during the mid-cycle! Those numbers allow her pancreas to heal (hopefully), and that's what makes it possible for those pre-shot numbers to start to come down. But it does take time.

And it's so great to hear that the testing is going so well!!! You've done such a great job of learning about all of this and doing what Angel needs in order to keep her safe!

It's not unusual for them to have those big swings from high to low, especially on Vetsulin....it's an older and harsher insulin that's really not that good in cats for that very reason.....it drops them quick and deep and then they "bounce" back high again. It also doesn't last a full 12 hours on most cats.

If you really can't afford to try the Lantus (even from Canada where it's so much cheaper), you may qualify for DCIN's Compassionate Assistance Program

If you can get your vet to write a script for it, we can help you at least get started

GREAT that you're doing so well with testing!! We tell everyone that it'll become a lot easier, but it's hard to believe until it happens!!

Double GREAT on finding a treat she likes!! That's usually half the battle....if not more than half!!

It's nice to see those better numbers on her spreadsheet.....just wish she wouldn't bounce back so high after getting them, but that should calm at least some after awhile

Oh wow, I didn't know about this program. Definitely going to look into it. Thanks so much!

I'm glad Angel is starting to see some good numbers. The high pre-shot numbers and the big drops are typical of Vetsulin; once she is used to being in good numbers that will level off a little bit.:)

Great that the testing has gotten so much easier, you're an old hand at it, now, lol! Nobody ever believes that will happen, when they first start testing!;):p

It's so great to see that she is surfing in those nice blue and green waves during the day. The preshot numbers will come down eventually as Angel's body adjusts to having more normal BG's. Smoky was the same way when I started him on insulin. I think it's because his body was so used to having those higher preshot numbers that it thought they were normal. He slowly became used to the lower numbers and his body stopped going into panic mode after that.
You are doing a great job with Angel and who knows, you might be able to practically test her in your sleep one day.;)

Oh, what kind of freeze dried snacks did you find for her? I have tried at least a dozen with smoky and he won't touch them.

Cherish, great news! And most of what I was going to say has already been said :D. I hope the Zobaline helps! I can only afford to get Maury's numbers down to help with his neuropathy right now but I think he is making slight improvements :). Also curious which freeze dried snack you found too.

These! Just giving 1 or 2 after each poke. Miyu gets friskies still because these dang things are expensive. $7 a bag.

Ah ok the same brand Kris uses for Teasel. Did you find them at a store? The pet supply place you mentioned before, not a big chain like Petco or PetSmart?

I get mine at Concord Pet. They are very pricey! You can get them online at Amazon or chewy.com, and sometimes they have them at jet.com Never noticed a lot of savings from buying them online, though.

Teasel loves these and, yes, they are $$. Worth it though. They aren't available at Pet Smart here in Ottawa, Canada. I buy them in specialty pet stores. Teasel's favourite are the original and the wild boar treats.

Cherish, you are doing really good considering you joined March 27. I've seen too many people pop their heads in with a sick cat and poof, they're gone. Sometimes their vet is an idiot or sadly they didn't know what a "big job" this would be, Pansies! Keep up the great work. See, we're not so bad!

Yes our vet is an idiot and pretty worthless lol. If it were up to him Angel would be on like 10u by now. Thank you :)
