AMPS 176

Sure wish the AM number would come down - but, really, I can't complain. The 04/11 PM cycle was almost perfect! :):D

He is eating good (anit-jinx). Member of the CBC this morning and last night's cycle too (except the +6.5 - but it is a tiny snack and more and more he isn't eating it).

Have happy hump day!

I wasn't sure about his numbers today. I was almost wondering if the Instinct Rabbit was a bit higher in carb than I thought - guess not! :D

His +2.5 snack is in 30 min. Going to let him surf till then.

+5=47

He had his +4.5 LC snack 30 min ago. Not much impact on his BG - should I give it another 30 min and retest? He is acting fine. I really expected the LC to bring him up to the 60's.

2 hours till his next scheduled "snack".

When Jack pulls those stunts where carbs don't affect him like normal it usually indicates an active cycle and some additional carbs are needed to get him to come up. At a 47, I would probably give a little MC or a small amount of hc to bump him up. Don't want him swimming into deeper waters.

Does Giz usually respond to carbs in 30min, or does it take him a bit longer? If he usually responds within 30 min, I'd give a little snack with some extra carbs in it.

+5=50 No food yet.

He usually responds unless he is really trying to get a reduction (which is what it looks like). He is right at nadir - that was kinda why I was holding off on MC/HC food. I will retest at +5.5 and see where we are at.

So - do I take the reduction tonight? It matters not to me either way. I am off till Monday and will be home to monitor. I have an appointment this afternoon but will be here until 12:30p (currently 10:12a).

He looks to be surfing pretty good, he's just toeing the line on needing some extra carbs. Since you are monitoring, he should be just fine.
He technically earned a reduction by going under 50, but not by much. If you are wanting to keep the momentum going, you might try a skinny 1u. If you need a little sleep, going to .75 is another option. This looks like the lowest he has been since the reduction to 1u, good job Gizmo!

And 4 cycles from a BCS.

Since I use calipers - would a "skinny" be 1/8th dose reduction?

I do recall the BCS, and you can see by the end of the cycle he had a pretty high PMPS compared to other recent nights even with a depot that was still at 1u. .75u might not be quite enough yet, but 1u is pushing it as evidence by today's surfing the edge of the lagoon.

I have no idea how to do a skinny shot with calipers. Once Gizmo rises some you might remove some #'s and ask about skinny dose and calipers. I would guess somewhere around .9u, not sure how to measure that with the calipers.

See how the rest of his cycle goes. This morning's AMPS looks like a "high before the low trick". I would stay away from the "skinny" for the time being. Either hold the dose since you're home and wait for one more drop below 50 or take the reduction to .75. I might lean toward trying to hold the dose but with him continuing to hang out in the high 40's he might want to try the .75u. As far as the AMPS numbers, maybe move his +8.5 snack to +9 and add some LC to see if it starts helping with the AM numbers.

+11=93 (#1-86, #2-102, #3-93) - had a hard time getting blood - cold ears (lol).

History:
AMPS=176, +2=117, +4=52, +4.5=45, +5=47, +5.5=50, +6=48, +7=75, +8=72

I am thinking of holding the 1U for another couple of cycles (until he goes under 50 again). I really want a solid reduction.

More times than not he doesn’t eat the +6.5LC or the +8.5 freeze dry morsels. It is why the +6.5 is just a couple of bites now. I am either not home or fast asleep at that time. He did eat it today because I encouraged him.
