About an hour and a half before. How long ago did she eat? I see the 157 at PS, but not sure how long before she had eaten.
NY.What time zone are you in?
I was wondering how on Earth I was gonna get half a cc. Is there a diagram or a video? I think I understand.Generally, it is a good idea to stall without feeding when coming up on shot time. This makes sure the test is not influenced by food. Pia is doing fantastic for not having a shot in a few days. It does look like she might need a minuscule amount of insulin to help push her into a stronger remission.
I would want some of the members more experienced with cats that are almost ready to go off insulin to chime in though. Have you looked up shooting small amounts of insulin Drawing Fine Doses
To get .05u of insulin, you push in the plunger and release it, do not pull the plunger out at all. There will be a small drop of insulin, not much, but enough for a cat that is getting close to not needing insulin.
Ok. I think I might wait til tomorrow. My bf is off and we're gonna teach him how to test her BG today. If she ate within 2 hours of you testing her and getting the 157 then the number could be influenced by food.
Click on the blue link that Salty cat gave you in his last post and there should be a pictorial on drawing micro doses.I was wondering how on Earth I was gonna get half a cc. Is there a diagram or a video? I think I understand.
That sounds fine, especially if you are getting too far past normal shot time. Pia is holding steady with no insulin, but does look like she could use just a teensy bit of insulin. By waiting until tomorrow, the bf can monitor her to make sure she does good and does not react too strongly to the dose.Ok. I think I might wait til tomorrow. Ty for all of your help. Just in case someone doesn't get back to me soon enough tomorrow morning, what number should she be above, in order for me to shoot .05 of a cc?That sounds fine, especially if you are getting too far past normal shot time. Ty for posting the link. I specifically bought syringes with half cc markingsHi Ginny!
Sorry I was offline for the flurry! One thing to clarify: I think the recommendation was for 0.5 units, not 0.05cc. So that's just half of the 1U you were giving before-- if you have syringes with half-unit markings that's great, otherwise you'll just have to eyeball it until you can get some (it makes the tiny dosing much easier). It's more important in general to be consistent dose-to-dose than to be exact on the absolute amount of these small doses.
For others, here's the history of the discussion and the recommendations the other day:

I think it is just semantics, but want to point out the difference in CC vs U-100 insulin. 1/2cc of insulin would be 50u of insulinTy for posting the link. I specifically bought syringes with half cc markings![]()
Yes. The numbers are confusing. What numbers am I looking for in the morning? To shoot? Over what? Just in case nobody answers fast enoughI think it is just semantics, but want to point out the difference in CC vs U-100 insulin. 1/2cc of insulin would be 50u of insulin. I'm pretty sure you meant units of insulin, but just wanted to point it out. I have not seen 1/2cc syringes with half unit markings on them, most of the syringes with half unit markings are 3/10cc not 1/2cc. The 3/10cc syringes are labelled up to 30u.
Thanks for the link to yesterdays condo Nan, sounds like the veterans like the idea of .5u of insulin. Tomorrow sounds like a good day if the bf will be around to monitor.
I do have the prefix set to a question mark, I will add the no shot number. Ty.If you edit your title and put in a question mark and add something along the lines of "no shot number for amps?" it will help get some eyes on it. I don't have enough experience with this situation to offer any concrete shoot or no shoot numbers. If you bf will be able to monitor, that can also change the recommendation since someone will be there to make sure Pia doesn't go too low on the dose.
