Hi everyone! It's been a couple of busy days (outside of the Rusty department) but he's doing fine. :) He has been staying in okay numbers with the new-ish dose of 2.5u's, although I haven't seen a green in a while. Does anyone have input on his recent numbers and advice for dosing? Does it look good enough to stick with it for a while longer, is it looking like we should bump it up to 2.75?

Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday! :)

I like the idea of 2.75 u.

When following SLGS, you hold the dose if you are getting nadirs under 150, which you are seeing with Rusty. Keeping in mind you are using at AT, the nadirs you are seeing are pretty good. Plus, you hold doses a week unless he earns a reduction. So, I would hold the dose for now, as long as those ketone tests are still negative.

Not sure why we are seeing such an increase today :( Nothing has changed with appetite or energy level, although I did see a big tear come from his left eye this morning. Like a litteral tear that rolled down his face and was the side of a small fluid pebble. He's not squinting or showing any other URI symptoms but I sure hope some sort of infection isn't coming on.

Looks like a bounce today. From either yesterdays lowish blues or whatever he did overnight. The other possibility is a fur shot. Did you sniff the injection site?

I sure home the tear was just that and not a sign of anything else.

I'm pretty positive I didn't give a fur shot, I always make sure I see the needle go into the skin and flip through the fur to make sure there is not wetness. Could be a bounce from last night, hard to say how low he went.

He's a little more subdued today but have not seen any more signs of discharge from the eye.

Get a ketone test today, if you can, and if that's fine I think you can breath a sigh of relief. Some times kitties will go high before an active down from the bounce cycle. You might want to leave extra food out for him tonight.

I just got one and it's Trace/Neg as far as I can tell. The color is neither negative nor trace but somewhere in between.

See if you can get him to accept extra water in his food tonight, or maybe you could give him some fluids if his heart is good and fine (ask the vet first) to help flush any ketones out. Is he purring and peeing and pooping and eating fine?

Maybe test first, before any fluids, just to see if he is continuing down. If he is, maybe it would be smarter to just add some extra water to his food. SQ fluids can make them come down and if he is clearing a bounce now, and you won't be there, it might not be a good idea.

Thanks :) I add a pretty decent amount of warm water to every meal (he gets about 5 small meals a day) and they are literally like soup...every one of them, lol. I think he actually enjoys his warm soup meals. I think if his numbers are still high tomorrow and his ketone test isn't obviously neg than I'll do fluids and make sure to do them earlier in the day so I can monitor.
