I though that I had posted something from my phone yesterday, but not sure what happened. I lost a couple days from my headache. Can't wait until this menopause thing is finalized!

Update on Taffy:

He is still eating lightly, but eating. I think he had some congestion and it is clearing up. His BG #s are running a bit high, we will see how the next few days go. I am reluctant to run to the vet because I do not see what the benefit is at this point.[/URL]

I'm glad Taffy is eating something. I can understand not wanting to run to the vet for every little thing and how expensive it can get. I hope his appy picks up and you feel better. Sending prayers.

Ate a bit more today. Ate a small snack in early evening, and a decent dinner. I would still like to see him eating more, but I'm happy he is eating. Apparently, HRH was holding out for the good stuff (pheasant). I am not mixing this very desirable game bird meat with any vitamin "completer" mix, but I'm pretty sure it'll be okay. I am giving some B12, sprinkled a little eggshell on for calcium, and I'll feed him the innards including liver. He is getting the skin and good, dark yellow fat (which means beta carotenes!)

His BGs went down all day, so I am hoping that continues. I am feeling almost back to normal, so I can monitor, if needed.

Good report on both you and Taffy! I hope his numbers keep coming down (SLOWLY of course) and you can get a break from the migraine train.
The lack of sleep and stress that comes with managing our diabetic kitties surely doesn't help :(:bighug:

Thanks!! I am not sure what I will be feeding if King Taffy only insists on pheasant and the like. This bird should be enough for several days, but then idk??? I think I am going to buy some turkey cuts and see how that goes over.
Remind me, what infection did/does Uncle have? From a dental extraction?

Yes, he had 5 extractions, one of his stitches opened up and got infected, so now he's on antibiotics. I need to take a good look at it tomorrow and see if the ABs have kicked in. She said I should see improvement after 3 or 4 full days

This food thing feels like it will never end sometimes. Hope you can figure something out before the pheasant is toast!

Poor Unc! Just thinking about it makes me hurt for him :( Do you have him on pain meds, too?

I am actually wondering if Taffy needs a dental. It does not seem like any of his teeth are in bad shape, but I have never gotten him one (been mine for about 4.5 years). There has always been something more pressing with his health, and I admit the idea of a dental makes me super nervous. Vets have looked in his mouth (last year under sedation to check for mouth/nasal tumors) and don't seem to think he needs a dental. I think he was doing the food dropping thing at that time, too, which is why that vet looked in his mouth. That vet was a jerk, though, so maybe he does need a dental. He does have pretty bad kitty breath.

I was about to write EXACTLY the same things as Chris. I can't remember how many dentals Uncle has had but he only has 9 good teeth left now.
The poor guy has had health issues all his life (if you're really bored, you can read all about it in on his SS (I made a tab called "Medical History" - I guess I was really bored!).
You might want have his teeth checked out again by someone you trust when you have the time and energy. Everybody says inflammation and/or infection really affects their BG.

Dentals make us ALL nervous, but the vast majority of the time, they come sailing through them just fine.
The thought literally makes my heart skip a beat! I think I will have to see my Dr. for a Xanax Rx first! It made me nervous B4 the FD was on board, and now, well...Where do I start? Is there a sticky or a good condo where dentals are discussed? How do I know if a vet is a good dental doer? (They all say they can do it.) And for my FD boy? What questions to I need to ask, etc.???? What do I need to tell the vet and staff?? I worry so about the impact of the anesthesia, isn't it hard on the kidneys? Should I only consider a dental if it seems warranted? I really don't know if he ever had one with his previous owner either. I have some of his records, I could look.

Well to start, yeah, I would only do it if it is warranted. There are some vets that are board certified for that. So many people on the board have gone through it. Might be a good idea to make a separate post to ask questions.
You can count on getting good answers :)

I know! I gave him some more pheasant and hoping we can avoid a bounce if he goes to greens tonight. another check in about 10 minutes

In the greens...81 @ +4.25
He doesn't really want to eat more right now. I also put out the plain canned he will eat sometimes, Purina One Grain Free. Similar to FF classic. Not interested.:p
I'll check him again in about 30 and see which direction he seems to going. Don't want to give gravy unless I feel I have to.

hmmm. Taffy climbed into his cuddle bed, but sort of reluctantly and he has licked his lips a couple of times. I hope he is not feeling like vomiting...:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:
Probably a high likelihood, given that I am just starting to feel drowsy. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Still headed down. +5.25 = 65
No vomiting (anti-jinx) and he got up and finished of his raw pheasant pieces. But no interest in the canned LC pate. I'll check again in 30 and decide if he needs a gravy bump.

+6 = 66, which is sort of creepy if I were superstitious. Test was actually more like +6.15, so almost an hour since last.
Looks like we are leveled out. We had our little pj party, but no drama, for once! I'm going to set alarm for one hour, just in case.
