I think I missed 3 days of posting. Barely kept everything together, I just got through working 13 days in a row and dealing with my sick kitty.
Uncle's diarrhea subsided and appetite picked up after a few days, but he still looked like he didn't feel well. He was hiding under the bed a lot, had a sad cry and his numbers were very high.
I noticed blood mixed in with some saliva coming out of the side of his mouth and he had bad breath so I took him in to the vet yesterday after work. Looked like one of the sutures from his teeth removal came out and was probably getting infected. He wasn't running a fever though, so that was good but he is on antibiotics now.
Also at the exam she noticed he has a "sinus arrhythmia". She said she had never heard it before and that a sinus arrhythmia is a bit uncommon in cats. Not sure what to make of it...
We also discussed his most recent BW and she told me there is a possibility that he has a kidney infection. So he is on a 3 week course of antibiotics now. She gave me more fermented goats milk to help out with his gut.
Hoping the antibiotics do the trick and don't give his stomach problems.
Looks like his numbers are coming down (FAST) tonight.
Going to get another test in now.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone this weekend!

Hi Tricia!! Thanks for checking in.
The antibiotic is Simplicef. I've never heard of it before, but the vet said it's usually a little easier on the tummy than Clavamox.
I am definitely giving it with food! Also, I called the company that makes the raw fermented goats milk to ask if it was okay to give to diabetic cats since honey is listed as an ingredient. They said the honey is used as the starter to ferment the milk, it's predigested by bacteria and so there's no sugar content. He said it's beneficial for diabetic cats!
I think it already qualifies as a P J party! I REALLY wanted to get some sleep tonight. Maybe he'll be good and level off...

Whatever caused the diarrhea sure hiked him up. Glad he is in better numbers now and that was quite a drop last night.

Hope his mouth feels better too. Hopefully, when the sutured area heals better he will be eating normally again.

Sorry Uncle is having so many issues. If my cat I would see a boarded cardiologist for an echo. I'd want to do this to find out if there are any heart issues early on as if fluids are ever needed you want to know if safe. Vines.

Yes, I agree, that's a good idea. The fear of heart issues has always been in the back of my mind because of his brother.
I think the vet didn't mention a cardiology appt. because she is hoping after AB treatment there may be a change (long-shot) and/or she didn't want to overwhelm me at the moment with one more thing. I'm to bring Uncle back to her at the end of the AB course (unless he gets worse) and I will address the issue with her then. I really appreciate the suggestion, I know it will be good to get going on an eval. and start treatment if necessary.

Lots of healing vines heading Uncle's way tonight. I'm sorry there are so many issues all at once. I hope the meds work. In any event, it looks like he has leveled out, so you may get some sleep tonight.

Yo Uncle, I've got my eye on you. Surf safe and let your mamabean get some sleep.
