Another night of numbers not permitting! I think the flatness of today was a bounce from last nights No Shot number and might see the same tomorrow. Is this a good thing, what's happening here? I'm so :confused:
 
It IS good...means he is getting into those good numbers. We'd just prefer 2 shootable preshots. That would be good too, though since it means he needs a dose decrease!
 
Don't get me wrong, it's been nice just having the 1 shot a day :), just wanted to make sure it's not harder on his body. Will be going back to 2.5U in the morning :cat:(numbers permitting, of course). To be honest, I have not really updated the Vet since his first increase recommended by them. Plus, I think he knows when I'm doing a curve to try and send to the Vet so his numbers are wonky o_O. I'm going to need a new vial of insulin soon so they're probably going to want numbers. Was trying to get that bottle from supply closet but have not heard back :(
 
Oh no! I'm so sorry!!! At least it's a nice pre-shot to start with. Fingers crossed he stays in reasonable numbers anyway.

Phoebes, there are minerals and chlorine in my tap water (and most others), so they (the water people) may have added something else or too much chlorine and it bothered him. I have to drink filtered water from my Brita pitcher because I grew up on well water. It's the only thing I changed for him and he went back to eating his food :). Never used to bother him, so might just have to wait for whatever is in it to pass through.

Yes Rachel, I'm just hoping he doesn't bounce too high. Going to test around +8 to see how he's doing.

I kinda winder if that might be an issue with phoebe. I know sometimes my water stinks to me. Like a wet dog. I have a uber sensitive nose. Like smell a fly fart at 50 years kinda smell. It's a curse most of the time. :banghead:
 
Might not see any responses to this comment until tomorrow morning. We're at least back on the last track of 1 No shot number. My mum called to check in and see how he's doing and I told her we have had a few No Shoot numbers. She says to call the Vet. In all honesty, my thought is they will want me to bring him in and then tell me nothing helpful. I do not think this is reason to call the Vet, am I wrong? From what I've learned recently, he might just be earning another reduction :). My ultimate goal was not remission for him but if it happens, I won't complain! I aim to get him well regulated so he feels good, gains some muscle back, and walks on his toes again. And if I need to skip his shots for 3 days (just one occurrence in the fall) , he'll be ok.

I have been trying to find another member's SS looking for similar patterns as Maury's but no luck yet.

I turn to you guys before I call any Vet regarding his diabetes :bighug:. Any thoughts appreciated. Feel free to be blunt as well :cat:
 
I think you should try a dose reduction so you can have two shootable PSs consistently. Maybe try 2.25 u for a couple of days? I doubt whether a vet visit would help - they generally have no clue about the nuances of insulin dosing.
 
I'm with Kris on that - both the dose reduction and the vets-aren't-that-helpful part. Although if your vet dose phone calls, you might try that route - but then be prepared to ignore him/her if you get bad advice.

Then the question is how much of a dose reduction? Looking at your spreadsheet, it's looking like his nadir is really late in the cycle. Is that what you think too? That may support the idea that his dose is too high. And also that I see bounces, but don't really see them clearing - although his numbers are complicated enough that I might just be missing them.

I'm curious to see if he gets more predictable with a lower dose.
 
I third! Vets aren't usually super helpful with dose and why pay for it when you can do it yourself?
 
And this is why I turn to you guys :bighug:. When I get 2 shootable numbers he still hits nadir around +6. Will see how the 2.25U does starting tomorrow morning, numbers permitting of course ;)
