I'm sorry Taffy's appy is still off. Below are some suggestions someone sent me when Furball didn't want to eat. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Do you have any parmesan cheese? If you maybe sprinkle a little of that on her food, she will perhaps eat? usually ondansetron is better for nausea than cerenia but it doesn't hurt to give her the cerenia....it can help.

Can you finger feed her....either see if she will lick food off your finger or will she let you dab some on the front of her tongue or on the roof of her mouth? Just be careful that it's only a small amount and that you don't get it down her throat.

Here's some info Jill often posts when a kitty won't eat:Here are some things you can do do entice your cat to eat:

-sometimes in order to get a cat to eat you even have to resort to dry it is more important that they eat. there are a couple low carb / grain free brands -- EVO and wellness core.

-making a buffet to give him choices
- heating food

sprinkle food with :
- forta flora -- a probiotic you can get at vets or online. is very smelly and cats love the taste of it.
- parm. cheese
- smashed crumbles of dry food
- bonito tuna flakes
- halo chicken treats -- crumble into dust over food
- poor a little water from tuna in water over food ( I use low sodium/no sodium added as other kinds in water has veg. broth in it and I assume that means onions, which are toxic to cats-- check labels)
-powdered oregano. yep sounds weird . but some cats like it and it will entice them to eat.

other ideas of foods to offer your kitty to stim appy:
- trader joe tuna for cats
-baby food -- beechnut turkey and broth or chicken and broth. they have no onions or other additives. some babyfoods have onions . please read labels if you can't find beechnut.
- kentucky fried chicken
- deli turkey /chicken
- plain cooked ( boiled or baked ) chicken breast
-canned chicken for people (watch the label that their are no onions)
- chicken broth -- low sodium

Thanks! Not our first time, so we will try all of the tricks and hopefully his appy will pick up. I do resort to dry sometimes when he gets like this. If he refuses dry, THEN I really worry. He is still eating a little.

On another note, I screwed up with my outside ferals. I feed 2 very feral cats that live in our yard. It is their home and they expect 2 meals from me per day and even after 4-5 years, they still won't allow me near. Well, a new tom cat has been popping around and he looks so awful and I felt sorry for him, so I fed him on the front porch. In the middle of the night I heard a cat fight and ran out to see my small black feral having a tussle with the tom. I am sure he was injured because he won't come eat today, and he is a little piggy usually. I was hoping to eventually trap the tom and get him fixed, but now I think I should be shooing him away...

What is it with these kitties? Jones has been off the last little bit. Not sure if it is a pancreatitis/IBD flare. He still eats the whiskas treats though...that is my "if you don't want that then there is something very wrong" go to.

Jones is getting all his meds, tried a new canned food - maybe that is it.

I know what you mean. Taffy happily ate a few kibbles, so at least he is eating. I hope they both stop this nonsense soon!

so at least he is eating
It is that balancing act of - there is something wrong/he is just having a not so hungry day. It is enough to drive you mental some days.

His BG is going up too which has me a little worried - pred has a lot to do with the higher night numbers...but the last few days have been weird.
Started to track intake again to make sure he is getting the cals he needs.

Hanging in there. Taffy was heading down today, but I think I aborted that. I was worried about his inappetance, so I did give him about a teaspoon of kibbles mid cycle just to see if he would eat and get some calories in him. He did eat those and so that usually tells me it is not a pancreatitis attack, but more likely constipation or just icky tummy.

I have been syringing water with B12 in it throughout the day. He had a decent poopy and ate some chicken snacks, about 1/4 can Nulo chicken and then barely nibbled at his raw. I am bummed bcuz I am wondering if the 4lbs of organic chicken that I used for this last batch of food was no good or something. But maybe he is just feeling off.

I went to both Petsmart and a specialty pet store and spent about $50 on various foods, so I am not left without options. Some of the foods are intended for the outside ferals, but if I get desperate with Taffy, I'll try them. The FF chunky and grilled are MC? Just need to get him back to eating. He has been eating lighter for nearly a week, I think. I wish cats had some irresistible food that you could get them to eat when they are not feeling great, like pancakes or milkshakes!

I think I will be ordering the supplements that several members are trying, the Pancreas Booster and Gycobalance. I have a couple remedies from that company, one is for asthma, but I was not consistent with it. I should try it again!
